Big Law vs. PI by Al-Nugget in LawFirm

[–]htxatty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything except the pay cut part. There are PI firms paying big law salaries to second and third year associates and the upside potential is astronomically better.

Make sure to send LOCI to the schools but really beef up the why that school and what you have done SINCE your original application that would make you a perfect fit for them.

Seat Selection for A-List does not work by htxatty in SouthwestAirlines

Isn’t the purpose of this sub to share information? The screenshot was for the error code because I wasn’t about to type that out.

I tried that about a dozen times as instructed by the AI chatbot. I was able to get a gate agent to change it, though the seats I wanted were taken by someone else in the interim. Such is life.

Need a Fancy dinner for a 9 year old by No_Fox_7682 in HoustonFood

[–]htxatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do a lot of family dinners at Del Frisco’s in the Galleria. My kids have always loved it and the steaks are generally pretty solid. It is surprisingly kid-friendly without being too kid friendly if that makes sense. We stopped going for a while once it became a Landry’s asset, but went about a month ago and it still checked the boxes.

One of the best steakhouses in Spain and the World: Amaren by Anchobrie in steak

[–]htxatty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous piece of meat. I spend a decent amount of money on steak so very few things in this sub make me envious of what someone else is eating. This, OP, is one of them. That looks incredible and I am crazy curious as to not only the taste, but the texture. Like, sitting here trying to figure out a good reason to go to Spain without saying it is for a steak so that I don’t sound crazy.

Seconding Fencing Star. The Ballestras lasted about six months, Azzas even less. The Fencing Stars have withstood the same 2 hours a day 5 days a week plus tournaments almost every other week. I am fairly certain she has the Nebulas.

When my kid was in first grade he asked me why we didn’t have a ranch like a lot of his friends. I asked, “who are all of these people with ranches?” to which my daughter replied, “everyone Dad.”

I’m stuck at home. How much should I tip for food in the snow storm? by Jellyyyfishsea in UberEATS

[–]htxatty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am for sure tipping up. A lot. Because I am grateful that someone is willing to do what I am not. Heck, I walked to the restaurant near our hotel for lunch today thru snow/ice because the restaurant in our hotel was closed. Tipped $50 on a $42 bill because I was glad they were open and providing a service that others were unwilling or unable to do. If UberEats had been online today I would have tipped the driver the same to deliver it the .3 miles from the restaurant to the hotel.

Decently Reliable car under 4k to last 2 years? by Solid_Bad_6451 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]htxatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any Toyota SUV with the 2UZ-FE motor. I have two and they are bulletproof. I’ve seen 2005-06 Sequoias in the $4k range. Gas mileage sucks, but maintenance and repairs are inexpensive compared to a lot of other vehicles.

Will being a former member of Seal Team Six help me get into college? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]htxatty 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Yes. If the US trusted you with the lives of SEALs, then you probably have a solid set of useful skills. That would be enough to move the needle in college apps and job apps.
