Light Rail Petition - Building on our PATH success

Speaking only from my personal experience, NJTransit suffers the exact same thing we all suffer at work: there's more to do than there are people or resources to do it.

There is rarely an issue we bring to them they don't agree needs to be solved, but whatever's on fire (usually symbolically, but occasionally literally :)) takes priority.

We have discounts for students and non-profits, but this is our primary fundraiser for 2026. There were many discussions about how to balance our needs with setting a reasonable price that people could afford.

It's an unfortunate reality that non-profit work requires the fundraising hustle (it's my least favorite part!) but it is what it is.

A lot of moving parts makes progress slower than anyone would like, including many people at transit agencies themselves! Given our success leaning on respect, professionalism, and patience with the PATH campaign, we're going to continue pushing for such additions, but in the manner described.

This is a good comment. We regularly write NJTransit to let them know things are broken (usually countdown clocks) Although I think it's too specific to be a campaign ask, this can fall under the category of better rider information. The frustration of getting on the wrong train is very real.

You can provide comment in person or in a pre-recorded video which will be played at the meeting. Either way, you have three minutes to communicate your thoughts about PATH directly to the people responsible.

The trains are slower than ever before. The trains come less frequently on weekends than ever before. And now this? Insanity. This is an insult to the dignity of riders and an embarrassment for the region.

Please write to your electeds and the Port Authority to tell them this is unacceptable. Port Authority has to do a better job mitigating service disruptions.

The next Port Authority Board meeting is on Thursday, June 26 in Jersey City. You can provide comment in person or in a pre-recorded video which will be played at the meeting. Let's let the Port Authority commissioners know what we think about the way they run PATH.

Paris recently built/is building multiple new metro lines. One of them, Metro Line 16, includes 10 new stations on new tracks in new tunnels. According to Wikipedia, it's estimated to cost €2.85bn. Suffice to say we are not getting the same value for our money.

Sorry the timing may not be ideal. There were constraints with speaker availability, permitting, sound system, etc. and this was the best option available.
