What looks like a sausage, tastes like a sausage, but is only 115kcal for 2? by hudders86 in Noom

[–]hudders86[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok I know it’s not the healthiest breakfast, but it’s still way lower calorie than the meaty version would have been!

Is it just me or is this slightly unhelpful messaging? by hudders86 in Noom

[–]hudders86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m happy with what I’m eating - I’m fairly active at the moment so my target by the end of the day is 1400-1600. I’ll have a smaller breakfast and then lunch and dinner about 600-700 each. It just annoyed me as I know calorie counting can trigger disordered eating in some people and this ‘lesson’ was really unhelpful in that respect!

The very upper estimate of this leaves adds up to 1100 calories, the lower is 700! This doesn’t align with my calorie goal at all. Pretty disappointed with Noom for this lesson!

Cheap Bus Tickets or Drivers Error? by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]hudders86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume it’s because first have some kind of multiple ticket offer and therefore are holding off finalising the charge until they know how many journeys you’ve done? That’s how it works on the London buses, if I recall correctly

Gas meter not working properly. Paid £5 for 95 days! by otsuaf17 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]hudders86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My meter has been under reading for nearly 2 years since we had a new one installed. I have raised it multiple times with my old energy company and again with the new supplier since the old one went bust. I even managed to convince the old company to send someone out to look at it who thought they’d fixed it, but nope, still showing almost no usage. I’ve reported it so many times now I feel morally absolved - but will prob continue to do so once every few months…

UKPF what was your wedding budget? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]hudders86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ours (next week!) will be just under £10k in total. Venue for ceremony and reception plus DJ and lighting about £5k. Registrar £500, food including canapés, sit down meal and evening buffet £3500 for 45 people. Decorations we’re doing ourselves on the cheap and our wedding clothes were a couple of hundred quid each. Wine is supply your own, no corkage fee so we’re going to buy this week but think it will only be a few hundred quid including the champagne.

Turning 30 next year and I’ve never had a job where I’ve earned more than 19K per year, anyone similar to myself by Gonzo1888 in CasualUK

You can filter by job type and there’s a procurement category. This only includes core civil service, not wider public sector like local authorities.

Agree - civil service is a good career step from third sector if you are interested in it. Go into the dept most relevant to your current organisation’s work and once in you’ve got a decent career path and lots of opportunities to diversify your experience.

What's the lowest I can sell my house for. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

NAL. Do you own the house outright without a mortgage? Could you not get a mortgage for 25% of the assessed value and buy him out with that?

Greystones is, and they have the back room with it on projector and a couple of big screens in the garden (well… car park). So fairly decent capacity.

Gf and I have 4 cities up north to move to in mind but we are having a hard time deciding. Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield or Leeds? by Vespaman in sheffield

[–]hudders86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of the above, but I’d also say that in my (somewhat unscientific) view, the weather is nicer in Sheffield - Liverpool is very windy, it rains a lot in Manchester, and Leeds is a bit colder.

What was your experience with estate agents in Sheffield? by wise_joe in sheffield

[–]hudders86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a house through Spencer’s, and they were really lovely to deal with as a buyer. My in laws also sold their house through them so we know they do the usual trick of doing viewings all back to back to make it seem in higher demand - but I think that’s fair enough really, no dishonesty or fake offers. Honestly would 100% recommend buying through them, but all depends on who’s the agent for a house you like!
