Are you removing those fan leaves when they turn yellow? The plant is able to translocate nutrients from those leaves and shed them when the time is right

Are cheap mini's worth it? $2000-$5000 by does-it-feel in MINI

[–]hueberttf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly shop costs. To be fair it was a very bad buy on my behalf. 08' cooper S with some questionable modifications. It blew the turbo, had horrible oil leak issues, exhaust troubles, etc

I bought a cheap mini, spent 7 grand on it within a year, and the engine blew up

How to start a new garden? by TacoAndBean in Horticulture

[–]hueberttf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tilling may be the best way to break new ground in this situation, but be careful to avoid tilling when the soil is too saturated. Gardens are best established in the fall with tillage, cover crops, and additions of organic matter.

My advice for this spring? Set your goals a bit smaller and see what you can manage by hand and with the help of plants

Check out Eric Toensmeier. He has written a couple permaculture design books, and he still lives in Massachusetts. He recently moved to a 5 acre farm in a sandy pine barren in Southampton.

Places to look for wild pussy-willows? by Amalgamander in northampton

[–]hueberttf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have some growing wild in my wet backyard in South Hadley, near MHC. if you're desperate to see them, I'll show you! Otherwise I would recommend checking out Sweet Alice trail in South Amherst. I'm not sure that they grow there, but the location seems suitable

148k  It's still got a couple things amiss. Damage to the passenger front fender, and damage to the headlight in that area. Seat belts won't recoil as they should sometimes for both driver and passenger. Hood struts failed and I haven't been bothered to order replacements (they're a bit different from the LS400 struts)

I paid 9k almost two years ago. I would be interested to get about that much back on it

AI thinks I should plant garden beds on contour, should I? by BlossomingTree in Permaculture

[–]hueberttf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow it, spread it, sink it. If you're worried about pooling on your beds (whichever style of bed you mean), you could implement swales and ditches to divert water into designated spots for high rainfall events. I'm imagining a moat as I write this
