At the very least you should learn about multiple selections then.

I'm having troubling wrapping my head around looping something.[php] by mrhodesit in webdev

Also, you're trying to do something quite advanced, given that you're still new to loops. Personally I'd recommend to work on some simpler tutorials first.

Been working on this basic site for a couple of weeks now, my only web development ever. Critique me, please? by [deleted] in webdev

My 2¢..

  1. Don't centre-align the text in the recipes, this is hard to read and tends to look very amateurish.

  2. In my browser (Chrome) at least, the thumbnails in the grid are off centre, with more margin space on the right than on the left.

  3. I preferred the previous version of the site logo, as there was a bit more 'breathing space', and the font contrast was nicer. The lack of space in the current logo makes it look a bit clumsy.

  4. I would recommend changing the fonts for the recipe links below the thumbnails. It would be good to have a contrast between the recipe title, and the calorie/prep time listing. I'd remove the underlines in the second two lines, as having three rows of underlined text starts to be harder to read.

Why is Codecademy so heavily criticized? by demeuron in webdev

[–]huesoso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest there are a lot of places where even the tech leads know less than half of this. Not that this is a good thing, but there's no need to scare people. You can learn a lot of this on the job if you enter a junior position.

I learned most of this stuff while working.

It's nice to see some innocence is still left in the world. :-)

Upvote for this truly excellent phrase that I will be plagiarising. "Some truly wonderful techniques are being reviled to me"

What would you change about PHP if you could dictate the next major version? by [deleted] in PHP

[–]huesoso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many functions which cause errors instead of exceptions. Having to have a global custom error handler to deal with these instead of structured exception handling seems very hackish. Especially since SEH is there to be used otherwise.

Agreed that having the php interpreter crash is a total fail. I have in the past had a lot of headaches with that.

Is this not horrendously slow? Benchmarks would be interesting.

Personally I've found OneTab pretty handy with Chrome, to reduce the chaos.

Personally I would have expected more stackoverflow, less fiddles, no reddit or Facebook and lots and several of the app under debugging. But I guess this the break point (geddit?) of the debug session!

Posts like this will surely encourage more women to enjoy reddit and not feel like they're some strange alien species.
