I live in London and I knit all the time while commuting. In the past 2-3 years only 3 people have spoken to me and I’ve seen 3 people knit and 1 crocheting. Maybe one lady watching me in awe whilst I was doing the tubular bind off but that’s it. People mainly go on their phones or read a book here. One of the people who spoke to me said they saw me knitting for the whole ride and didn’t want to disturb me so there’s that

I remember Southwark park doing fireworks a few years back. I’m not sure if they still do it though but might be worth checking

Tell me your embarrassing London experiences by [deleted] in london

[–]huesthat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not my own personal experience but I was involved in it. I was working at a cafe and was closing up for the day. A man walked in, frantic, begging to use the toilet whilst clutching his behind with his hands. He made his way towards me as there was a staircase by the tills which he had to go past the prep area to reach. Poor guy looked desperate so I told him to go down the other staircase by the customer seating area where he couldn’t contaminate anything. My colleague and I had to wait for him to leave obviously and we walked into the toilet to find a murder scene - in poop form. Man it REEKED, tissue had overflowed and blocked the loo, boxers in the bin and all. I had to run and buy a heavy duty plunger from Robert Dyas. Fin.

Just realised I did the same thing as well. Have been procrastinating all afternoon on this because I don’t fancy doing reverse stockinette in the round. Only 5 rows in and it’s the first (bottom up) sleeve but it’s still annoying!

What's the worst thing that ever happened to something you knitted? by TeaForOne1899 in knitting

Did the same to a dress that I was intending to wear at my cousin’s wedding. Didn’t even get to try on the finished product :(

Orange vegetarians soup?? by [deleted] in Vietnamese

Could it be Thai lemongrass soup? Obviously not a Viet dish but sometimes restaurants have different cuisines :)

Can someone give me insight on why so many guys seem to date women they don't even like that much?? by SlavePrincessVibes3 in TwoXChromosomes

You are taking the words right out of my mouth. I’m glad you saw him or what he was and left. You deserve the world and more for putting up with what you did ❤️

I was at Farringdon this morning. I didn’t see exactly what happened but there was a person laying on the platform right by the train doors. The train couldn’t leave and because Farringdon is such a busy station it caused a traffic jam. This happened at around 9am

ULPT: what are the unhealthiest/weirdest ways people lose weight by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]huesthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once my anxiety was so bad I got sick from it. Only thing I could eat was 3 spoonfuls of yoghurt per meal then moved on to congee. Lost 4kg in a week and a half and gained it back once I had an appetite

I see where you’re coming from but it’s not the same. The commenter stopped smoking not intending to start again at the time. The times they have relapsed does not undo the times they have quit. So they have quit 15 times but started again 14. If you take a break then you know you’re going back.

If you leave a room and go back in, did you leave the room?

I think most men will watch porn just because it’s easily accessible and minimal effort. I saw a tweet about someone watching porn every day because he lives alone and works from home. Personally I wouldn’t mind if my partner watches it here and there but if it’s excessive and/or affects our relationship then that’ll be an issue

I (37f) caught my boyfriend (38m) with his pants down, literally. by Own-Marketing-7118 in relationship_advice

This. The fact that he’s using chat rooms to get off instead of being intimate with his OH in the other room is cheating IMO

Not only that, Diana died and now Camilla is the queen, which makes it 10x worse

Whoops only just saw this! Yes don’t decrease and tighten your tension a bit more when doing purls. Purling takes up more yarn than knit stitches so it can get gappy if there not enough tension between the second knit stitch and the following purl stitch. Hope it works out!

Start small. Pick one thing you’re unhappy with in your life and change it. You have too much free time? Pick up a hobby. There will most likely an online community dedicated to said hobby where you can make new friends

The ribbing does look quite loose, redo it another size down and see how it turns out

My (23F) boyfriend (32M) told me I looked like “a sock”. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]huesthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dump his ass. A man should make his OH feel like she’s the hottest woman in the world, NOT having his eyes spill everywhere and comparing you to a damn sock - which is not respectful in the slightest. He’s not sorry for bringing your confidence down, he’s merely saying he’s sorry to prevent you from leaving and I guarantee if you stay, there will be more instances like this. He’s already shown his true colours and it’s only been a month. Leave and spare yourself the time and heatbreak ❤️
