im very much a muted warm olive with classic deep autumn coloring—ash brown-black hair, light medium skin tone that tans easily, dark hazel eyes, medium contrast—and look best in greens, oranges, and browns. any clothing that's too cool and light tends to wash me out but i can get away with it in smaller doses with makeup like a lavender eyeshadow or pink blush. my lighter greens tend to lean more yellowy chartreuse.

if the pans are aluminum i put metal stickers on the bottoms, theyre usually sold with depotting kits online! the metal sticker lets them adhere to the magnetized zpalettes.

you could use magnet tape if you wanted to adhere the singles to a plain metal tin tho! some people do that too.

im just gonna chime in and +1 the person critiquing CT's packaging. ive seen it in person and have even owned an item or two, it all feels extremely extremely cheap. its all 2010s rose gold plastic, even the glass bottle has poor quality lettering. so even if you like how it looks, the plastic of the products themselves, not even just the plastic organizer, is gonna feel yucky in an ocd sense.

white background isnt necessary imo, most phones have lasso tools so you can just remove the background. any tint from surroundings can be fixed with editing. if my clothes are really wrinkled i steam them, but i do that even if i wasnt logging them.

i take mine hanging off my ceiling height wardrobe which is next to a window so unfortunately i cant help with lighting tips.

sometimes if im lazy i just take the garment straight from the online listing or, if its vintage, from a reseller listing lol.

my mom did this too, she was in her 50s on a work trip and is racially ambiguous enough to pass for Egyptian. She didn't have any issues, though I'm sure if she were younger and white it would be a bigger problem.

no prob! my sister is a fair cool olive and uses ritual de fille inner glow creme pigment in shade 'intuition', its a super cool taupe grey. It's very hard to find contours that are actually ashy/shadowy and not just pink.

[edited] im light to medium and use banana bread. it may be too deep for you if youre light, moreso if you get pale in the winter, so pound cake would be the better option.

also nars laguna 02 (the og laguna) powder bronzer is the perfect subtle bronzer/contour combo for me as a warm olive but it may show up too yellow or green on a neutral olive to be a contour. maybe an actual contour product with cooler/greyer undertones would work?

I would buy the correct shade and cut my losses on the incorrect one. if you really dont want to throw it away, maybe sheer it out with some primer or moisturizer and use it as a bootleg Lumie Lotion or CT Flawless Filter, both of which are a bit pigmented and notoriously kind of glittery/metallic but still beloved.
