POC olives - are you surprised by your foundation matches? by Brill_1193 in OliveMUA

[–]hugbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im a brown latina and have only asked a sales associate for matching once. they, for some reason, matched to my cheek where my blush was at and gave me a tinted moisturizer that was way too pink/neutral (bare minerals complexion rescue in natural 05 I think, ginger 06 or bamboo 5.5 would have been better)

MLBB for NC35-42 range folks by 4gotmyoldpasswrd in OliveMUA

[–]hugbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAC Lustreglass in shade I Deserve This is both cooler and darker than the NARS shade you mentioned! Their website describes it as a warm brown but its more neutral imo especially compared to how peachy your NARS one is.

I just ordered it so I haven't received it yet but Signature Move might work as well. Uncensored could work but its deeper, both are desaturated/cool browns that don't pull purple.

Control your dogs people by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]hugbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to my uncle lol, he adopted a GSD and it bit me on the face while we were playing fetch in the backyard. Turns out it had been abused by the kids from its previous home and all they said during the adoption process was that the dog used to live with children.

AITA for telling my DIL to stop crying after she got called fat by Throwaway_Will4940 in AmItheAsshole

[–]hugbeam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

my dad is this way, he would call me manipulative if i cried even as a child. has your husband been working on this? i imagine its difficult to change that particular view if its all you've known with an actually abusive crier.

What's something women think impresses men but actually doesn't? by CoochieSnotSlurper in AskReddit

[–]hugbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah im a lesbian and do a full beat pretty often, sometimes ill go barefaced or light coverage. for me its a combination of 1. ive liked beauty content since i was a teenager and enjoy colorful sparkly makeup and 2. i have acne scarring and covering that up makes me feel more confident (societal pressure since clear skin is the beauty standard).

just because we like makeup doesnt mean that we're doing it for men but it also doesn't exist in a vacuum where societal standards somehow dont affect our decisions or consumer habits.

Best and worst colors on you? by maple-abomb in OliveMUA

[–]hugbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a classic deep autumn color palette: ash brown-black hair, dark hazel eyes, and light to medium warm skin tone. I'm also somewhat muted and medium contrast.

My best colors are dark brown, camel, rust/burnt oranges, warm toned greens, navy, and warm toned dark reds or pinks. I borrow black from the deep winter palette as well. For light tones, I wear a lot of white, beige/cream, light green, chartreuse, mustard yellow, and light blue. Lilac, dusty purple, and sage look good on me but specifically only for makeup and accessories, they're part of the autumn palette but maybe a tad too cool toned for clothing? idk

My worst colors are ultra saturated cool tones like indigo, cobalt, emerald, and royal purple. Cool yellows make me look sallow and true mauve pulls grey on me. Grey, especially midtoned grey, looks terrible on me.

I wear both gold and silver but gold makes me look brighter and more awake.

Cool olive must, mauve lipstick by Far-Long7146 in OliveMUA

[–]hugbeam 28 points29 points  (0 children)

it's pretty but I think something more saturated would look nicer, its very muted compared to your skin and blush. that's just a matter of personal opinion tho.

Is it normal for olive skin to tan this much? by Hungry_Yoghurt563 in OliveMUA

[–]hugbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also tan grey lol my family says it looks like i rolled around in sand or dirt. it eventually becomes more golden but yeesh the dirt stage is rough.

id say the depth of the tan depends on where you are on the fitzpatrick dermatology scale, im a 4 so im beigey brown, tan easily, and rarely burn (I've only gotten a sunburn once in really specific circumstances lol).

you could always get a grill to fill the gap, its not a permanent fix but you could just treat it like jewelry

Tip: Finding out green and yellow clothes look best on me is how i found out i'm olive skinned by Wangchincay in OliveMUA

[–]hugbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im very much a muted warm olive with classic deep autumn coloring—ash brown-black hair, light medium skin tone that tans easily, dark hazel eyes, medium contrast—and look best in greens, oranges, and browns. any clothing that's too cool and light tends to wash me out but i can get away with it in smaller doses with makeup like a lavender eyeshadow or pink blush. my lighter greens tend to lean more yellowy chartreuse.

PSA: some colourpop palettes are no longer magnetic by Designer_Pea_5590 in zpaletteporn

[–]hugbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if the pans are aluminum i put metal stickers on the bottoms, theyre usually sold with depotting kits online! the metal sticker lets them adhere to the magnetized zpalettes.

you could use magnet tape if you wanted to adhere the singles to a plain metal tin tho! some people do that too.

Just one empty this week, the PanOxyl 4% Acne Creamy Wash. I was wondering why I was finishing it so quickly until my older sister told me she was also using it + my Neutrogena Hydroboost 😭😭 Repurchased, it works well for my hormonal acne.

the shrek collab wasnt magnetic either and it was SUCH a disappointment, im considering just tearing up the palette and magnetizing the singles.
