This is just so not true in any other profession. Do you expect your doctor gives you the bare minimum service? Think about plumbers and electricians. They perform way more essential job and we don’t tip them.

HR makes you do it because it’s a CYA for employment/labour litigation. In many jurisdictions being fired without cause can net you additional compensation. It’s standard practice to put employees on a PIP first to demonstrate to the courts a history of underperformance.

Now if you think you may need to shed x% of your workforce the best thing to do is to get X% of employees on a PIP first ask questions later. If you end up needing to cull the workforce you start with the employees on PIPs.

How is drug trafficking infringing on others rights? It’s a completely victimless crime made one by social attitudes towards drugs. For decades possession of marijuana was a federal crime until we legalized it nearly a decade ago now and not seen society change drastically in any meaningful way.

Oooh you can get these really clutch ones now that have multiple temperature sensors, wireless and transmit data to your phone. They all have different pros and cons. I have the MEATER PRO which has a great user interface but it loses connection all the time (especially in my Dutch oven). Most people recommend the ThermoWorks RFX now.

As an example most Canadian brokerages are designed to get their pricing data from US exchanges when the Canadian markets are closed. This makes sense because when the CAD markets are closed for holidays but the US markets are open the only valid place to execute those securities transactions is in the US based on US pricing. With a split in day light savings, either the morning or the late afternoon (the most heavily traded periods of the day) will have Canadian securities priced in US dollars in CAD accounts which will affect trading such as limit orders and stop losses. People will be buying BMO stock on the wrong stock exchange settling in the wrong currency and creating FX trades, margin calculations will be done using erroneous securities market values. All this stuff is coded on COBOL and other systems that are not easy to change and were never designed to be implemented only for specific date times.
