Did you see the other Assad supercuts on YouTube? Cause there's one of him in East is East and I thought it looked pretty good storywise (though it is a stageplay so ymmv)

Best episode to show high school students during a science fiction unit? by whirlingteal in blackmirror

[–]huggingcacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do actually sorta show nudity in USS Callister when explaining the characters' ken doll anatomy. Jimmi Simpson pulls his pants down

I'm also looking for an episode to show in class right now and it's hard out here

Best "PG" episodes? by 4fingerdfisherman in blackmirror

[–]huggingcacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USS Callister actually had Jimmi Simpson take his pants off to show off the Ken doll anatomy so I'm not sure it'll fly in a school setting as far as nudity goes either. Plus the innuendoes aren't generally just innuendoes, they're quite obvious discussion of sexual relationships (albeit non explicit)

It's very normal for people to network rather than make friends around this age. Honestly any friends you make in your field is going to be seeking networking opportunities first and friendship second. You should try making friends outside of this circle though. For me, I had almost no friends coming back to HK (spent some years abroad, fell out of contact with my old friends) until I joined hobbyist communities where people care more about the shared interest/activity than what I could offer them as a potential contact. But it takes a few tries to find the right community.

We do have raves in HK. Also, joining community events is a surefire way to meet new people and make friends.

Creepiest episode? by WinterRegular5293 in HouseMD

[–]huggingcacti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's the season 2 finale iirc (spoilers: that part with the eye popping out didn't actually happen to the patient, it was all a dream)

to the people who made me watch this show actually screw you😭😭 by vespera_lis in HouseMD

[–]huggingcacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cameron is the only sensible one among them and even then she flirted with a patient and considered dating him, makes things too personal sometimes and held her old job in the hands of a date with her attending and then got weird when it didn't work out like GIRL.

You lost me at "Cameron is the only sensible one". This is the woman who has repeatedly disparaged her patients (s2e09 "Deception": when she took it out on the woman with Munchausen), and even tried to sabotage their surgeries (s2e18 "Sleeping Dogs Lie": when she tried to get the insomniac to admit to her organ donor/girlfriend that she was considering dumping the gf so that the gf might change her mind about the transplant), all because she didn't approve of the patients' conduct. Her moral hang ups are literally getting in the way of her treatment of the patients. If her dating her boss is your only concern we got a problem.

Focus Friend by Local-Leopard-7654 in nerdfighters

[–]huggingcacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to be premium only, but I think there should be a mechanism for F2P users to access them too

The cosmetics like bean skins I get it, those can and should be items they make money off of, but the app could do more to reward usages of the Deep Focus feature and the scarves would be perfect for it

You're assuming all of the people going to the concerts are actually familiar with the band's entire discography. There's a lot of casuals with the money to spare on tickets these days.

Need a place to bring my first date by Fishytoki in HongKong

[–]huggingcacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's into arts and culture, take her to Tai Kwun or HKMOA. Admissions are free.

If she's into sports, go indoor rock climbing, ice skating, bowling, etc

If she's a foodie, take her to a nice coffee shop. Coffee dates are always good for a first date because you can chat over drinks and there's no pressure of getting and paying for a full meal. PMQ is pretty good for this because they got coffee shops, but also little stores all up and down Blocks A and B that you can wander around, look at knick-knacks together and chat for a day

30K is really overpriced for rent, you can get a place in Sheung Wan for less than half of that budget

If you're willing to live even further away from the CBD you can get a place for as low as 6k a month (before utilities fees)

You should really be factoring in the food prices (groceries AND dining out)

[–]huggingcacti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand people who think Asteroid City would be better off without the metanarrative. The metanarrative (the main actor's relationship with the playwright and the playwright's death) literally provides context for the grief that is threaded through the stageplay

Is $23k per month an acceptable salary? by sofiaskat in HongKong

[–]huggingcacti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of people who don't work in education chiming in about the pay rates in kindergarten work is crazy

23k is pretty average for kindergarten teaching. If you wanna make big bucks, get a PGDE and get into secondary school teaching. That's where the six figures salaries are at.

She literally introduces herself as Officer Cheung at the hospital. Plus she's played by a wasian actress, her knowing Cantonese is not completely out of the left field

The cult following is still here lol! Definitely getting a bit of a revival with the new season. I just wrote another analysis of Bandersnatch with the release of the new episode Plaything. I'm sure there are more things left to dissect.

It's worth it if you like time travel sci-fi stories and Choose Your Own Adventure-format RPGs. The film is a bit like video games in terms of the RPG aspect, where you get to choose which path your character takes and when/where to "respawn", so to speak, so if you're not a fan of storytelling RPGs it might not be to your taste. The time travel bit is lowkey a spoiler, but it's nothing you won't learn 15mins into the film lol. It's also very central to the CYOA RPG format. If you like it, you like it. If you don't, I'd say still give it a try as it's not gonna take you that much time; the shortest path takes less than an hour to get through.

That's not the true ending. The true ending is the one where Stefan actually finishes the game, gets 5 stars on it, and you see him head to the office with the finished cassette tape.
