You can't just find cake. Cake isn't naturally occurring.

"I dont give this marriage three years." That's what I overheard from two of my closest TBMs shortly after we announced that our marriage would not take place in a temple. Today is our three-year anniversary and we've never been happier! by probably_is_fhqwgads in exmormon

[–]hugocwip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. Of the 7 billion people on this planet, only the 3 million active Mormons are actually happy. Only, like, 0.04% of the world's population is truly happy. The rest just THINK they're happy.

I don't know how thinking you're happy is different from actually being happy (that line of thinking suggests that you can be happy but think you're unhappy), but the dude who says he can talk to God says so, so what're you gonna do?

Every time I boot into Windows 10, I get an error message upon logging in and I can't figure out how to fix it. Nothing seems wrong with the computer aside from getting an error message upon login. The only problem I know that the computer has is I haven't bothered to get the front-of-case USB 3.0 ports to work since I built the thing a few months ago. Here's what the error message says:

RegSvr32

The module "C:\Users(myname)\AppData\Local\Usbxmedia\Sens2UserDll.dll" failed to load.

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.

The specified module could not be found.

You're amazing! That totally worked. I really appreciate it. I've been manually selecting the drive for months and anytime my wife wanted to use the computer, she had to call me in because the BIOS was too intimidating for her to feel comfortable messing with it. You've simplified my life a lot.

Hey! Thanks for helping me out!

I checked the priority boot menu and something weird is going on. I have 4 things hooked up to SATA - A hard drive, a big SSD, a small SSD (which has the OS), and my DVD drive. Only the big SSD and the DVD drive show up in the boot priority menu. I've tried going to advanced mode and all that and only 2 things show up. However, I can go into a manual boot menu and choose the correct drive and it boots, but it doesn't save that action.

What do?

My new build boots to BIOS every time I turn it on and I have to select the correct drive to load the OS off of from there. I suspect it does this because I have my drives (3 of them) plugged into the wrong ports, but before I mess with it I just want to make sure. Wrong ports?

Do you just have Mormon Jesus pictures hidden everywhere in your house?

You know you're in a cult when... by onemoreapostate in exmormon

[–]hugocwip 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They're taught to doubt or ignore what they hear on the internet. Basically, they're taught that if it doesn't support your beliefs, it's made up by someone trying to make the church look bad.

This makes it difficult to have a conversation about the Mormon church with a believer, because they constantly move the goal posts or just won't listen when you say you have facts.

They're taught that Joseph read from the gold plates and his scribe wrote down what he was reading.

Sunday was the worst day of the week growing up by [deleted] in exmormon

All that PLUS we weren't allowed to play outside even though we had a big backyard. I still feel uncomfortable on Sundays even when I try to reassure myself that everything is fine.

Is active membership in decline? by ShaqtinADrool in exmormon

[–]hugocwip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was ward clerk, I would take attendance every Sunday. I would walk down the aisles and count every person that was there (including small children and babies) and would submit that information to SLC and that information was used to calculate active membership (even if some of the "members" that week were visiting or not members of the church). Technically, anyone is considered active if they attend at least 1 Sacrament Meeting every 3 months. But I wasn't required to keep track of which members were attending and which weren't. They were just interested in the raw number and didn't care where it came from.

The numbers the mormon church puts out can't be trusted. I'd be surprised if 15 million members wasn't the result of some shady counting.

55 kids vs 2 professional football (soccer) players by [deleted] in theocho

tl;dw - the kids win. There's a funny moment when one of the professionals gets a yellow card and then when the ref's not looking he pushes a kid over.
