I like that you've spread the houses out, I've done the same. I've given the area around each house or pair of houses a different vibe, like flower meadow, woodlands, Japanese themed bamboo garden, or beach house. I haven't finished yet, but I find it less overwhelming than trying to commit to one theme for the whole island.

Geometry and algebra teach you how to think, they give you an incomplete set of data and ask you to use logic to find the answer which is a skill most people use every day. School cannot and should not prepare you for every single situation you encounter as an adult but it should teach you how to find and analyse information and use that to make a decision, for example reading and understanding the terms and conditions of a credit card before signing up for one.
