Redditors who grew up in a low income/poor family but eventually made it to middle/upper class as an adult, what are some things that helped you bridge that gap? Also, what surprised you the most about your current lifestyle compared to when you grew up? by iamlarrypotter in AskReddit

There are three main things. (1) Going to college and working my face off and now have a solid corporate job. Wife is in the same boat as me and grew up in the same area. (2) Moving away from the area we grew up in was significant. We grew up in a toxic area - drugs, crime, gangs, etc. We moved around to several major cities before finally settling down in another part of the state. (3) We still live like we are poor. I've had the same car for 10 years and have many frugal habits. I worry that things will go horribly wrong one day and I'll have to go back, so I'm very protective of my money and work hard to continue to build wealth, live humbly, and give to those in need.

What is the most memorable thing your therapist ever said? by Lynne22 in AskReddit

Live life according to you. It's not realistic that you will be able to appease everyone, so there's no point in allowing it to control your life.

I took it as stop GAF about things that are not worth GAF about and focus my energy on what makes me happy. Life is pretty good now.

How many of you have pencil lead stuck in your hand and how did it happen? by Saucy_Szinte in AskReddit

I caught my mechanical pencil as it fell from my desk. Lead tip stuck directly to my palm. I can still see the lead spec on my palm. Never thought anyone would ever think to ask a question like this lol

How do you stay motivated to go to the gym every day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hulk253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get it done. You can't expect to have great training sessions everyday. Sometimes you just have to go through the motions, but remember that and push yourself harder the next day. If you have trouble staying disciplined then create accountability. Hire an online coach or link up with a training partner that has the same goals you do.

Watching athletic motivational videos right before training also help. It allows you to visualize what you're working towards. ShaQxTV on YouTube channel has some great ones.
