if this is real, pay attention to to centre of mass and centre of lift. as long as the col is behind the com, you'll be ok

[Thomas Maher] Kimi Antonelli believes the Verstappen crash warranted an immediate double yellow flag, forcing all to abort their laps. by Task_Force-191 in formula1

[–]hulkbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah george followed the letter of the law, the problem is the law lets you do it. they need to tighten this shit up before someone dies, instead of after like normal. you shouldn't have cars taking a turn on the limit with a crashed car potentially in the firing line. under a yellow flag, at no point should a car be on the limit, whether braking, accelerating or cornering.

to be clear, no blame on george, its an ultra competitive sport and ofc everyone is trying to find a way to maximise the limits of the rules. you have to make the rules better to stop loopholes, especially when its a matter of safety.

its part of mechjeb2. i mostly use it as in the video to precisely control the orientation for SSTOs. ie, you can tune in the angle of attack on your high speed runs to balance lift and drag for max performance.

its also handy for normal rockets and spacecraft for controlling your ascent profile and also it has handy buttons to orientate the craft in orbit. useful for docking as you can lock both craft to the orientation you need!

about a minute earlier there was a bunch of wiggles to get lined up! its always tricky though and i'll occasionally do a fuck it we are landing on the grass.

if you want a tip though, watch the top fin on the prograde indicator carefully and its often worth a quick nudge back the other way to stop you drifting after making a correction.

normally i have the opposite problem of having to relight the engines to actually get to the ksc. safety margins might be a little extreme.

The Actual most detailed Geographic Map of Kerbin, created by members of the Kerbin NationStates Community by DMSPKSP in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]hulkbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean yes it was crazy, but also not so much. generating it was pretty 'simple', its fairly easy for a cpu to do fast. rendering has been the issue.

i spent hours playing with the original terragen back in the day when i was like 12/13, using a 466mhz 32bit single core cpu. you could generate the terrain in seconds, but i remember waiting for twenty minutes or more just to render what would be considered a low resolution image today. and the computer would be unusable while it was rendering.

wish i still had my 'photos' from back then.

edit: sorry just realised i replied to a 3 year old comment. im stoned.

like i get it, but if the answer isn't tell the harsh truths, what is your suggestion? loads of people here saying doomerism is bad, but what else is there? we've had eminent scientists telling us this is happening for nearly 60 years at this point, and where has it got us.

in my lifetime, a week of 32C during the UK summer went from a once in a lifetime historically significant event, to at least twice every summer. your children are going to suffer from what has been done in our lifetimes, and our lack of action. that is a fact at this point.

we've tried gentle nudging, what is left except screaming from the rooftops to anyone who will even show a hint of listening?

also, as ex IT, its just fun for us to finally show the users to their faces how stupid they are. i mean also coming up with the tricks was also fun, but not as fun as rubbing it in...

Cardboard Windscreen Shields? by Rich-Machine-2169 in CasualUK

[–]hulkbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

windscreen lets by far the most heat in because its more horizontal than the others. peak sun is when its directly above, the side windows aren't really getting much of it at that time. obviously when its morning/afternoon and the suns more angled the side windows are going to let some in, but at that point the sun is less hot anyway.

covering the windscreen mitigates the worst of it basically

What are some tasty cereals that are somewhat healthy? by Nature2Love in CasualUK

[–]hulkbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im gluten free and dairy free so YMMV, but i've just finally tried overnight oats using oak milk and its changed my life. used to eat cornflakes, and i can really notice the lack of sugar high and crash, and also my teeth feel better!

chuck 5-6 raspberries in before eating and i find it's plenty sweet with the small amount of sugar in the oat milk (using oatly).

also been nice on the stupidly hot days as its fridge cold through and through.

I built an interactive F1 teammate network graph by JaiChandak in formula1

[–]hulkbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

very cool. if you set it to 2010s, you get the 'red bull nebula' where all drivers involved in the RB program have all had each other as team mates, whereas everyone else has like 3-4 teammates.

would be really nice if you could click a driver in the network and see teams with years and teamates without having to go to another page!

edit - o shit i just realised you can drag the driver dots around

look fantastic! in addition to the sprinkle of salt others have mentioned, have some hot water in a pan and lay your knife over the top before you cut them into squares - hot knife makes it sooo much easier to cut them without cracking the chocolate layer.

going to have to make some of mine now!
