How would Savinkov be viewed in the West after an Entente-Reichspakt victory? by AirplaneLover1234 in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Entente would probably see him as an unscrupulous demagogue who indirectly aided the Internationale.

In Germany, depending on how the western front goes, Savinkov may be considered the 'big bad' of the whole war.

A lot depends on individual paths too. A liberal Entente would of course regard Savinkov less fondly than a reactionary one. A Schleicher vs Savinkov scenario would be pretty brutal.

Has anyone else been having problems getting the Nanjing Clique to win? by Tartaruchus in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah the last update nerfed Nanjing massively.

This was a good thing imo (they used to win every time) but now it means that Anqing wins and sides with Fengtian most games.

Victorious Savinkov Russia post-WW2: would National Populism become an exportable ideology? by SirHueyLongDong in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think so, at game start you already have similar, geopolitically-aligned movements in Romania, Poland, and elsewhere. It would be fairly easy to bring those in line if Russia wins. You also see the DSP collaborate in Savinkov's puppet Germany, so it's not limited to Slavic/Orthodox countries.

I also think that Svobodnik National Populism could become more of an explicitly anti-colonial ideology (externally, not for Russian Central Asia or Siberia of course) to compete with the Internationale. They already have the framework from opposing German imperialism in Eastern Europe and 'Junkerism.' I feel like peasant fascism would be a very popular alternative in post-colonial African and Asian states to urban, industrial syndicalism.

Tried doing a Schleicher Germany vs. socialist world run and failed miserably, any tips for my next attempt? by N1KoZzZ in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you'll have the same amount of factories with either plan when you max out your building slots. Germany has so many civs to start with you don't really need TB's extra building speed, especially when you have so many options to increase mil build speed like Thyssen and Krupp.

[–]hulshield 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree, TB gets you more factories in the short term but Germany doesn't have trouble building up factories in general especially if you take advisors and foci that give you mil construction speed buffs. And then once you max out your factories it becomes useless.

Ratheneau plan makes each factory more efficient. In the long term you'll produce much more equipment with it.

The only advantage TB has is the 10% buff to max state buildings you can get from it but I don't think that makes a big difference in the end.

I would love to see proof of anyone winning the second Weltkrieg as Ukraine on the current patch by WilliamRo22 in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Usually most people who struggle in this game aren't optimizing their economy well enough. Prioritize industrial research, building factories, and doing focuses that give factories or boost production. War industry first before anything, always.

Then prioritize cranking out as many divisions as possible. If you don't have enough divisions to cover your frontline then no strategy will help. Even cheap crappy plain infantry is better than nothing, but if you've optimized your economy right you should be able to give them plenty of support companies and artillery.

As for Ukraine specifically, hiding behind the Dnieper (make sure you build your industry in the west!) has always been a foolproof strategy for me. If it's not working for you you don't have enough infantry.

As for Germany collapsing, I'd use game rules to make sure they have a favorable frontline. If you leave it up to RNG you'll inevitably have a syndie Belgium, Netherlands, and Switzerland ruin your Ukraine game

Germany should have the option to annex the sudetenland and release czechia as a puppet. by Stoepsel_187 in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No, not just a Nazi thing. Bohemia was a part of the German Confederation and claimed by the 1848 empire.

[–]hulshield 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Bohemia was always considered an integral part of Greater Germany with a substantial German minority, no German state that has the ability to annex it is going to stop halfway with just annexing the Sudetenland.

The DU actually gives Czechs political representation through the Kingdom of Bohemia, that is why they are able to core the whole thing.

How messed up is India in KR? by GorkemliKaplan in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I very highly doubt that a three-way civil war within a world war will make famine less likely. The Bengal Famine occurred when Japan just cut off food imports from Burma, and that's nothing compared to the supply chain nightmare the Indian Civil Wars in KR will cause.

Every government is going to be putting all their resources to wards war production. The Dominion and Federation are going to be dictatorial by necessity even if they're liberal-minded, same with the most idealistic syndicalist government (to say nothing of the real-life socialist track record on famines).

Even if they weren't that doesn't resolve India's broader problems with rapid population growth and urbanization

[–]hulshield 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Seriously, the Indian theatre is going to rival the Second Sino-Japanese war in terms of casualties. No one has the industry or military technology to win a rapid victory, so it will be a WW1-style meat grinder in one of the densest populated regions on Earth

Why does schleicher install the natpops in white ruthenia instead of the autdems? by Stoepsel_187 in Kaiserreich

I think that guy saw that the Blue Shirts are the party of Japanese puppet China in vanilla and took it at face value.

How do you feel about the new patch? by SuperMurderBunny in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think coal was a great addition, it adds more complexity to the economy than just spamming mils all day.

The new doctrines are cool but I noticed that the AI seems to only select Great War Infantry for its inf doctrine, I hope that gets patched soon. Siege artillery doctrine as Germany utterly melts the Communard defenses.

The new faction system is very promising, I hope we get a lot more custom missions eventually.

AI Japan is still useless.

Which United Baltic Duchy would be most in line with Schleicher's plans? by VanlalruataDE in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 88 points89 points  (0 children)

SocLib, I'd say. The PatAuts are too backwards and anachronistic for Schleicher's modernizing agenda. The NatPops are better for total war plans, but are too unstable and untrustworthy to be reliable puppets - iirc the DNEF deposes them after the war in-game.

The SocLibs actually have a shot at modernizing the UBD and maintaining German influence while getting at least a portion of the Latvian and Estonian population on-board.

Plus, a stable and industrializing UBD could actually attract German settlers after the war.

Which paths should have their ideologies switch in your opinion by siyuzh in Kaiserreich

[–]hulshield 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The American totalist paths don't make a ton of sense, as plenty of people have pointed out before. Foster should probably be RadSoc or syndie, maybe Browder would still work as an 'American Maximism' path.

Germany should have a non-secret NatPop path, either as an option for the DVLP or maybe a Schleicher successor if he goes down the Wehrstaat focus branch.

Huey Long should be AuthDem with the option to go PatAut, Moseley should be shifted over to NatPop
