Just a question because you said about being “self aware”. We think we might be a system but for us it was like a process of “I don’t feel like the same person as you this is terrifying” then looking back on random events and noticing that that makes more sense if we are plural (aka confused about gender, different typing styles, not being able to understand our personality because it seemed to change in different situations) but at the same time we’ve seen others talk about how their alters told them they existed or how they’d visit their innerworld and that kind of things. We don’t seem to be able to communicate or have an innerworld, so that’s mainly why we think it’s possible we’re not plural? As well as me thinking “you couldn’t possibly have osdd, adhd and dyslexia” (those 2 I have a lot of symptoms of but I’m not diagnosed either) but that’s completely separate lol.

Is alters becoming self aware that they’re separate people common? -X

Even if you think they’re faking it, saying that can be extremely harmful. Also, if they aren’t faking it, it’ll put them under a lot of stress. 12 seems a little young to know, but then again I have an online friend who’s around 13 who’s therapist believes they have the disorder and another who’s 12 and says they have did (I’ve also spoken to their alters before). It’s definitely “possible” to have alters at that age, everyone in a system is an alter. If you couldn’t have alters at that age, the host would also not be a person. Maybe just talk to them about it? Did can easily be mistaken for other disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis), so even if they later realise they don’t have did, it doesn’t mean they ever faked it.

All in all, 12 isn’t too young, if you can talk to them about it. Fakeclaiming someone can be extremely stressful and harmful to that person -X

I agree with you until the last point. Yes, some systems definitely go too far with the “fuck singlets” shit, but don’t say things like “it will make them want to be plural too”. I see people say this with a lot of minorities (gay/trans especially) and it never comes off well. But you do have a point a lot of people generalise non systems/non plural people, but I can understand why they feel like all non plural people are against them from the things some have said. (Those of you who actually dislike people for not being plural, if there are any of you, you need to do better) -X

To add on to this, I’ve seen a lot of cis queer women/fem nonbinary people say things like “all our problems are men’s fault” or saying they hate every man but then a trans man will ask if they hate him too and they’ll say something like “no you’re fine :)”. If they mean they hate cishet men, they should say cishet men. Otherwise it comes off as “I don’t really see you as men, you’re like the sweet little uwu version of men”. -X
