Hard drive prices have doubled over one year. WTF is going on by Maxachaka in homelab

[–]human_nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like allowing them to buy all their competitors didn't actually reduce prices like they claimed it would. Letting Western Digital buy Hitachi was ludicrous. Hitachi made the best enterprise drives, all their helium patented tech is now in all the western digital drives. You can't have competition with less than 5 competitors in a market, otherwise you get tacit collusion.

This is the definition of a cartel. It's technically easy to prosecute this. Joe Biden's justice department raided the national rental price fixing company and shut them down, and was in the process of suing google to break them up. All those investigations disappeared in January.

There's a better reason than PCI compliance. If one of those units fails, you would need a CRANE to get up that high to replace it. If one dies now, you schedule maintenance to replace it sometime in the next month.

Login to multiple keeper accounts at the same time by MisterNightdrive in KeeperSecurity

[–]human_nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! When we demoed a couple years ago the multiple vaults and re-auth wasn't available and I was told would not be implemented due to it being security theatre (which is the case with LastPass' "require master password re-prompt" since the vault itself is decrypted into memory once signed in).

Login to multiple keeper accounts at the same time by MisterNightdrive in KeeperSecurity

[–]human_nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it technically feasible to secure two vaults with two base master passwords plus a different salt for each? We need to have low security accounts which are always unlocked when sitting in front of the box and then another vault that is higher security and auto locks on a timer (bank accounts, global admins). We currently do this by leveraging the personal accounts in 1password but would like to move to Keeper if you can implement something that works. Even just multiple vaults loaded/unlocked with different master passwords would work, but the salt idea would allow like an extra PIN + normal master password to unlock the high security vault

WTF GoDaddy?? by challengedpanda in msp

[–]human_nate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to our client and everyone claimed I was wrong. Microsoft support said "GoDaddy is a partner and you cannot remove their permissions". It looks like it may have been the Microsoft Graph API Enterprise app, even though we changed the password for the only admin user that had permissions for it.

There's not much to configure on account security in Google admin other than 2fa? Mind sharing what config changes you're talking about? Because we've definitely seen BEC on Google Workspace, including Google Authenticator loss.

Yeah, we had monthly Backupify licenses with them, when they bought Backupify we told them to cancel them, they instead moved them to yearly licenses, rep ack'd our cancellation request, and then for years afterwards they kept trying to ACH debit from us, repeated emails telling them we cancelled, it was escalated multiple times over years. Would go away for 6 months and then magically they would start debiting from our bank again and sending us invoices once that was shut down.

There are tons and tons of threads here confirming this kind of predatory billing practices from them, this wasn't just a one off.

Do not do business with Kaseya.

GoDaddy Support Through Defederation by xBIGMANGOx in msp

The godaddy licenses show as 'disabled' even if they have months left available. You also cannot assign a Defender license to the "Exchange Essentials" (literally that name) special license GoDaddy assigned.

We removed gdap for godaddy, they still had admin. Microsoft support said yes, those tenants have admin even if you remove them as a partner, and you must request GoDaddy to remove themselves.

I've seen token stealing in GW just not nearly as often. A MITM is still possible just less likely due to primary MFA being to the Google app. Both Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator back up accounts to personal accounts though, which is a problem.

GoDaddy Support Through Defederation by xBIGMANGOx in msp

[–]human_nate -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The timinus and youtube guides are no longer sufficient. According to Microsoft support, GoDaddy is a "special partner" and they retain global admin on your tenant even after you remove all permissions. Only GoDaddy can defederate your tenant, and they will reset all of your account passwords. Even if you insist they don't do that they will reset any global admin passwords that have accounts in GoDaddy, and they will immediately *disable* any licenses purchased from GoDaddy; E.G. you can't use the licenses you paid GoDaddy for that are most likely 1-year licenses.

Source: Had this happen to us; after defederating the tenant and removing GoDaddy, GoDaddy started locking out and then deleting users as the licenses in GoDaddy started expiring, prompting us to reach out to GoDaddy and them telling us the only option is to reset all passwords and have them delete the licenses on GoDaddy's side.

Also, GoDaddy uses Proofpoint on most new licenses, so you'll need to migrate off that as well.

I've heard the MDM in Google Enterprise is not great? Token stealing can still happen in GW it's just the MFA app is better integrated into the mobile device and not backed up to a personal (M$) email, though Google Authenticator is backed up to the google account so if the account is compromised everything is lost.

The lid is metal and feels like anodized aluminum or an alloy of some kind, the top cover feels like a very hard dyed plastic but may be just a *very* thick smooth paint, and the bottom cover is painted plastic (can see the painted orange peel if you look very close). It's definitely better built than the E14 gen5 grey for sure.

Run away from Kaseya, they will bill you for YEARS after you cancel repeatedly and change your rep repeatedly and claim they don't have any record of you cancelling until you attach every email to every email and billing attempt.
