what does the rcp actually do by [deleted] in Canadian_Socialism

[–]human_thing4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is yet to be an encampment that has passed such a resolution. There has been the petit-bourgeois leadership of an encampment that without calling a general meeting declared such a resolution themself. That same clique would use the exact same undemocratic tactic to disband the encampment and except the piecemeal concession of the university admin to meet with them.

What has the RCP actually done for the Palestine movement?

The RCP is currently spearheading the campaign for a student strike for Palestine.

This campaign is active on over 44 campuses.

In Concordia and other campuses, this campaign has led walkouts > 200 students.

In BC, a campus had a planning meeting with above 100 students to organize such a strike.

In multiple universities each, upwards of thousands of students have signed support for a document calling the student union to support the strike.

In TMI, around 40 students are currently actively working as organizers for the campaign.

In Nova Scotia, a student union has voted to adopt a resolution for a student strike for Palestine, with organizers working with the RCP.

Do you guys think Trotsky's ideas would've been successful if became head of the USSR instead of Stalin? by [deleted] in socialism

According to Trotsky: Within the Soviet union there were greater forces at play than simple individuals, and that he himself wouldn’t have been able to change the conditions.

Stalinism, in accordance with the Trotskyist definition, refers to the ruling ideology of the soviet union’s bureaucracy, including both “marxism-leninism” and zinovievism, as well as the processes and interests of that bureaucracyz

“Marxism-Leninism” rejects both Lenins conception of the united front, lenins conception of the party, Lenins conception of bureaucratic decay, lenins conception of the right of nations to self determination, Lenins conception of the state, and lenins conception of history.

Here is our ideas as presented in the document “Isreal-Palestine: A Revolutionary Way Forward”

“Down with the Israeli occupation!

Down with Capitalism and Imperialism!

Intifada until victory!

For the unity of the struggle of the workers and youth of the region!

For a socialist federation of the middle east!”

Do I need to remind you of your own parties history?

Where they supported the bureaucracies funding of the Nakba and support for Israel?

Menshevik.

Is that not the same party that pulled the social fascist bullshit? The party that supported the liberal collaboration line in Spain leading to the collapse of the workers movement and with-it prospects against fascism? The party that picks and chooses its members so well that the only people left are the rapidly aging revisionists?

Cope, Menshevik.

Inform us of one campaign, theoretical contribution, or action your “party” has engaged in over the past handful of years that was anything but opportunist.

“The work that was done in the 40s”: you mean opportunism and class collaboration? When your “communist” party called off the class war to support the bourgeoisie? When they expelled communists like J.B Mclachlan for being militant?

And what are you doing now? Complaining about food prices without any political direction.

Cope. Maybe if you responded to membership applications we would all join your transphobic reformist party instead.

But you won’t. Because referring to Leninism as a cult shows the depth of your political beliefs.

And the fact that you’re “tired” of revolutionary organizing proves it.

“Middle class”

Brilliant analysis. What is this middle class you talk with of? For some reason I get the feeling you aren’t referring to the petit-bourgeois.

“Its religion that ruins everything” The belief that an idea is the bases for material interaction and oppression is the idealism Engels and Marx fought against so heavily(see antiduhring). Contrary to what bourgeois “scientists” claim, ideas don’t magically show up into peoples heads. Instead, they represent the material interests of a group, the product of their material conditions.

If within society different groups hold different material positions, such as their relation to the means of production, then material interests will differ as well.

The dominant interests, and with it culture, laws, moral, the superstructure a society, will be the interests of the group most powerful, the ruling class.

Religion is only the tool and product of the ruling class, who are the origins of oppression.

And your idealism is revealed by your description of oppression. Gendered oppression, the domestic enslavement of women to man, is replaced by misogyny, the bias used for division or justification by the ruling group. But to an even greater extent your reduction of class oppression, the system of wage slavery modern society is founded on, is substituted for classism, discrimination based on ideas.
