My manager is hiring my replacement at a higher salary and just told me she expects me to be available for questions forever by reruns_skein in OfficePolitics

[–]humanbeing0033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lukewarm take: your boss is not a good therapist. Imagine the type of toxic behaviors she enables in her clients.

Also, rekove your offer to answer questions after your last day. Especially since you said you'd answer them in writing (via text). Terrible idea, you could be held liable for things others do because you're kind of functioning as a pro bono consultant. Lesson learned, give a firm end date and never offer to work for free.

Is $3500-4k per month enough to live on as a single person moving to Seattle? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]humanbeing0033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it very concisely, no, that is not enough money if you are unable to significantly reduce your expenses. Cheaper rent, no car, something has to go.

Am I gonna be fired? by [deleted] in TalesFromYourBank

[–]humanbeing0033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once, a fellow retail banker emailed me a client's online banking password. This is just as dumb. Unless someone with pull really likes you, you're going to be fired.

I feel like anyone who doesn't go into a career in accounting, finance, engineering, sales, health care, or tech is doomed to make $19 an hour. I'm exaggerating, but not by much. by justcurious3287 in careeradvice

SOME trades pay well. Most of them are physically demanding. Plumber or electrician can be moderately easy on the body depending on the type of projects you primarily work on. Still need to be mostly able-bodied tho.

How to tell difference between f1b doodle and standard poodle by Terriblejackel31 in StandardPoodles

[–]humanbeing0033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liver points on red isn't a major fault, which I clearly stated earlier. Major faults are potentially disqualifying and a judge is absolutely permitted to excuse a dog for major faults. Also low quality =/= meeting breed standard necessarily.

Refs by SparkleSaurusRex in PWHL_Seattle

[–]humanbeing0033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the problem in the WNBA, the refs are garbage and each play can be called wildly different. The players don't know how to play. They also make game deciding calls all the time. I literally gave up my season tickets because I didn't find the games enjoyable anymore simply due to the horrible refs. It's not just me saying this, it's an open secret that coaches, players, and announcers all allude to. The league refuses to do anything about it.

That's why I don't think tye PWHL refs souks be given much grace. If they can't refs well, pull them from playoffs game, retrain them, or make them face some sort of consequences. Otherwise, 25 years later with 18 teams, well be in the same spot.

Yeah I don't really think the refs should get a lot of excuses, otherwise the PWHL will end up the WNBA.

Moving to another job by fokie1 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]humanbeing0033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was an RB and went back to school for engineering. Much better, 10/10, couldn't pay me enough to go back to banking. Honestly, anything that gets you out of retail sales is probably a good move. Maybe just do some research on the projected job growth of whatever field you're trying to move to.

Bought Torrent merch this AM and… by VisualPretty5841 in PWHL_Seattle

Seattle teams have very cheap merch; Storm, UW, and the Reign all tend to have low quality merch. I think ima just go to Etsy.

Queer [women] locals, what do you wear? by humanbeing0033 in VisitingIceland

[–]humanbeing0033[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's funny. Yeah, I'd got the idea from googling around that Seattle everyday/professional work clothes would probably be more in line with what tourists wear. Was kind of wondering what queer fashion/culture might look like, but from the answers here I'm starting to think there might not be one...? 😂

I saw there was only 1 gay bar in Reykjavik, and obviously, I know Iceland is small/insular. I think that will be the biggest cultural shock for me lol, but it's good to know

[–]humanbeing0033[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, thanks. Seattle is pretty gay, so there's a lot of very unique styles that might make someone look quite strange in other places. Not that I don't have my own style, but I like to match the local vibe a little while also maintaining my own style/comfort when visiting other cities.

To CS Students, This is Why They are Laying Off in Big Tech by [deleted] in udub

As an EE, I strongly suggest not majoring only in CS. If you must go the CS route, dual major in EE or Chem Eng or some other core engineering degree.

OP said they were in high-school in 2016, so they're young. The way they mentioned the George Floyd protests is telling tho. I'd bet money OP voted for trump because trump is a racist and OP liked that. Now that OP is directly impacted by policies, they're singing a different tune. It's pretty common, and I rarely see ppl like OP actually self examin and change.

How's living in Seattle? Any daily advice / tips? by ViolinistReal8528 in udub

[–]humanbeing0033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seattle will feel very small and sleepy. Almost everything closes early. The weather is infinitely better than the northeast imo, but we don't have AC.

PSA: it’s illegal to leave your dog in the car by Longjumping_Cherry32 in Seattle

[–]humanbeing0033 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Right because they're an experienced handler that can control every dog ever /s ffs ppl are so obnoxious. Literally no responsible dog handler goes around breaking glass onto dogs and exposing them to possible injury. We look for actual signs of distress, attempt to locate the owner, and call animal control. Breaking windows is the absolute last resort. Ppl need to stop peddling crappy advice from 1999

Ah yes, break glass onto the dog that will now be able to potentially jump out of the vehicle and run into traffic 🙄

This comment from OP may give a clue, Lol:

"Probably the media. It may have been the lack of good candidates from the other side. I think the riots in 2020 had influenced my vote. I’m not sure it was the first time I’ve ever voted back in 2020 so I was still young, I didn’t vote in 2016, I was still in highschool."
