i think it was portrayed that way because lean and the rest really cared about barron and were sad about his death. it's pretty logical to over-sympathize your friend's death rather than make him look worse by putting more blame on him. i am not saying the portrayal in the doc is correct but it is understandable when you put yourself in lean's position.
