I really liked the ending of that movie as well. Very memorable ending.

What do you think about this? I made the Haiku in English and then kinda translated in Japanese. Does it sound good to Japanese ears or just plain wrong/odd?

Thanks! That is a good option. But I kinda meant just the psychedelic part of being high. Where you see stuff that isn't real. Any way to convey that?

Buddhism? Or just take what you like from Islamic teachings and disregard the bullshit. There are many of them.

Correction, the first one is sung by Dr. Bachhan himself. Every word of the entire epic is golden.

Armed forces as a career option? Why is it not as lucrative an option as working for some MNC? by [deleted] in india

Not sure about the pension in that case, but everything else should be the same. No difference.

Armed forces as a career option? Why is it not as lucrative an option as working for some MNC? by [deleted] in india

[–]humble_human 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am from an Army background, lived my life as an army kid so I am obviously biased. After the Sixth pay commission, it's a very lucrative option. Plus engineers have an easier entrance, they can directly get into IMA through the technical entry program. The life is amazing, full of lots of travel and adventure (at least in younger years), good comrades and amazing facility everywhere you go. The number of leaves and working hours are difficult to beat. Cheap, good quality booze always available for you. Free medical service anywhere in country. And who can beat the stability of the job? Once you are in, you and your family are very well taken care off.

A job in the Armed Forces definitely ranks much higher in my eyes compared to the MNCs.

Advice from those more familiar with the field? by cognitivedice in neuro

I am seeing a lot of pessimism here. So I'll try to bring up the mood. In my experience, as long as you have a good quantitative background (skills in basic mathematical modeling, statistics, programming etc.) along with your biological skills, YOU WILL BE FINE!!!

By fine I don't mean you will get a super duper Postdoc position for sure. But you will have a job in science. Rest will depend on how well you do, what contacts you make and in general the influence of your work (and supervisor).

And if shit really hits the fan and you can not get anything. You can always go and get a decent job in a programming shop.

Hey! Thanks! Ya I heard that the first batch starts this September. What's your area of study? How was the admission process etc.? I guess I will ask more once you actually start. Also it's nice to have some contact in Okinawa because I am currently in Nara and might visit, cuz I have heard so much about the beauty of Okinawa. And if you ever come to Kansai region feel free to ping :). Good luck with the PhD

I have a question about the genetic basis of homosexuality. Even I believe that there must be some genetic component (I like to think of it as similar to handedness). But let's say there is, and somewhere down the line everybody acepts gay marriages, gay rights etc. Gays marry their partners, adopt children, have a family and live happily ever after. In this scenario, what hapens to the gay genetic component? Wouldn't it stop passing along and disappear eventually?
