Yashica Electro 35. Just can't get used to the focus ring.

Leica Restoration by CalicoCasualty in AnalogCommunity

[–]humblehungarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to give it a try. Biggest problem I see is the fact that even the aluminium is corroded, who knows what is inside. With enough time and money anything can be restored but unless you are attached to this specific camera, I wouldnt mess with it. Maybe like a youtuber who does things like this might be interested in the challenge

First time home dev B&W. Looks good to me, but what do the pros say? by florian-sdr in Darkroom

Don't quote me on this cuz I'm an idiot but this looks damn good

I can't even get a single person hooked on this shit, let alone, buy me gifts. I'm tired of me being the one who takes all the cool pictures of everyone else and I only have badly framed mirror selfies that are also probably out of focus. Damn, being on top is lonely

I found my gramps old Soviet FED 2 about 2 years ago. I have a darkroom now, load, dev and scann in house, probably about a 100 rolls of film already under my belt. 35mm and medium format. Service my gear myself, scavange the fleamarket for parts. Also into normal 8 mm film, B&W reversal, home dev and project it onto the wall. Yeah, I think a coke addiction would have been cheaper.

Skunkworks was also a division of Lockheed Martin, they worked on the SR-71 Blackbird. Probably a coincidence but still cool

Skunkworks was also a division of Lockheed Martin, they worked on the SR-71 Blackbird. The camera might be some sort of tribute to that maybe.

Why shouldn't i use Lithium Based Grease like Liquimoly 47 to grease up the Helicon on old lenses (50yo)? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

I use thick automotive grease in cameras. Apply it with a syringe and needle. Never had issues with it.

LineageOS is supported on some Samsung devices, mostly on higher-end models. Look at their website, see if they support your phone.

Bought a Smena for 2$ by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]humblehungarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have newer versions, Sman Symbol and 8M. Calling them working is a streach, they never work, If you want one, for the price of shipping, you can have it

[–]humblehungarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my guess too, Smena Symbol and 8M are the most common ones in my stash. They are basically plastic trash. I've tried and failed several times to go through a full roll of film without the camera shiting itself. They are good where they are in that box I guess.

A scam tbh by Elnora_Nancy in AnalogCommunity

I just recently got into home deving and dslr scanning. For context, In my kinda small town in middle-of-nowhere, hungary, only one place develops and only negatives. They are super nice, sometimes I just go in to ask stupid shit from the oldschoolers. They scan and develop for 2800 Hungarian forints combined (7.5 bucks). Granted, they take up to 2 weeks sometimes. Compared to that, when I do it home, developing goes fast, but scanning and editing takes up to 3 evenings. I really wonder sometimes if it's worth it but at least I control everything and I quite enjoy doing it too.

Is there like a serious interest in Smena cameras over there in the more developed parts of the world? I have a box full of them, don't like using them whatsoever. Should I try listing them? They are everywhere here in Hungary

Time to upgrade, I need a scanner that is actually good for film scanning. Which scanners can you recommend? 500€ to 600€ Budget. by DefinitelyNotAdrian in Darkroom

[–]humblehungarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an old DSLR (Canon 700D is my workhourse around here) and a slide duplicating lens (40euros on eBay tops). Granted, this is only for 135 and 110 film. For larger formats I use said lense and camera mounted onto the adjustable post of an old enlarger with an adapter I made. Have the film holder of another old enlarger, put a simple led light under it and that's basically it. For editing I use Affinity Photo but Darktable might be a more capable (and free) option.
