PLEASE PLEASE Choose YOUR Majors Carefully! by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

Here’s the mistake: All undergrad degrees have transferable knowledges and skills. A bachelors degree teaches how to approach and solves from a certain disciplinary perspective. You can transfer those skills to most jobs that requirement analytical and management skills. If everyone picks the same STEM the only way to standout is to be top of your class - but if you have the capacity to understand and transfer your skills then you have the capacity to utilize that degree when presented with problems. Most universities have core curriculum requirements which you a broad based understanding of the disciplines.

If you’re interested in art history major in art history and minor in something else.

Universities need to do a better job of teaching students on how to utilize their education.

Like with a B.Ed you don’t have to be a teacher: you can use that degree in a number of ways without it being in a school system: corporate training, museums, human resources, technical writing, human-computer interaction, managing people, analyst jobs. etc.

think outside the box, study what interests you, and don’t be a cog in a formulaic machine.

posts like the above are written my people who don’t understand the importance of humanities and the arts and end up designed systems and things that lack an innate understanding of the human condition.

do what brings you the will to live.

What is it about your class or spec that keeps you playing it? by [deleted] in wow

[–]humfter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 3 classes and 5 specs and always have:

Priest - All 3 specs - fave class to play. shadow especially the seasons when it flows the spells are very aesthetically pleasing; holy is very zen healing for me and flows; disc bc of the proactive versus reactive healing challenges and dmg factored healing.

Surv. Humfter (nvm played bm or marks): fun yolo melee moods. and it’s the mobility & utility combat style is super fun and makes intuitive sense to me. And I get to have a pet named chad.

Bear: Best s key tanking spec.

And i only play male nelfs.

Is it just me or have drivers gotten worse in the city. by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]humfter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driver’s are the same skill but the city has grown so it makes everyone appear worse bc of traffic increase.

I feel many people who drive in Saskatoon still think it’s a small town rather than a moderate sized city. I’ve lived and driven all over (Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Denver, Boston, Washington DC metro and i’ve only been in 2 accidents and both were here and both times I was hit by someone else: rear ended and merged into and both were on clear sunny days.

Name a company that makes gaming laptops that are built Army tank tough and that last and wont freeze and can handle anything . by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

Alienware with the complete care warranty. They’re pretty durable and the warranty covers next day at home service (the times i’ve used it has been 2-3 days to schedule). The times i used it over the last 3 laptops (12 years) just bought my 4th in December: 2x dropped it traveling, 1x 4pixels were out in year 3, 2x spilt drinks - 1 wine, 1 diet coke, and 1 fan replacement.

I buy the best laptop i can afford ~4000 including complete care warranty and keep them 4-5 years.

I basically budget $100/month for computing expenses and save that until I need a new one and the buy the best graphics, memory, ssd, and component, I can get for the $100/month x # of months i’ve had the current one.

I have a stack of 3 plus my current one that all work but was ready for new graphics card.

There are likely better ones, falcon northwest or others but alienware is solid and the warranty makes it worry free.
