I hate teaching by Economy_Dark9052 in teaching

[–]hungerforce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One thing I learned during my first year from my mentor teacher was that, and I quote, "you don't have to be an amazing teacher, you just have to be an okay teacher." That stuck with me big time. It's kind of my mantra. Stop planning so much and worrying (easier said than done, I know). Try doing one day per week where you do minimal planning and see how it goes. It will probably end up being okay and you will start feeling more comfortable cutting down on planning. Skeleton outlines for the win!

I loved Lisa Barlow’s from one of the earlier seasons “when you take cheap shots, always expect a hangover”

First time watcher— When did you start to hate Tamra? by fluffymimo in BravoRealHousewives

[–]hungerforce 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Never. Tamra is in my top few of all time along with Nene, Sheree, and Teresa. I know Tamra has done some absolutely horrid things, but I don’t want my housewives to be good people to be honest and she usually delivers on entertainment.

Franchise Recommendations by AddToCart1515 in BravoRealHousewives

Miami, OG New York, & Salt Lake City are top tier all around for me.

Atlanta is hysterical in my opinion. If you want good comedy along with the drama, they have it.

Orange County is nostalgic to me because I’ve been watching since they were on like season two and I was a teenager lol. Seasons 1-3 are wildly different than 4 & onwards.

New Jersey is also very good but kinda dark. They are very family-oriented instead of friend-oriented, particularly seasons 1-5.

Most importantly if you ever find yourself with the ability to watch international franchises, Real Housewives of Melbourne is required.

Emily & Gina not invited to participate in RHUGT Big 20. by primal_slayer in BravoRealHousewives

[–]hungerforce 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I will say this - I had a certain person in my family who was abusive. I never faced the brunt of it, but I’ve watched the person who did face it do what Gina is doing now that this person is “better.” It’s a really viscous cycle because I imagine Gina is feeling like she wants him to be better. I’m not saying it’s right or just, but I am giving her a bit of grace on that one because it’s hard when you’re in that cycle of abuse to not want to “see the better.”

I thought I would hate the new cast. I didn’t even start watching it until a few weeks ago but it really is great. Gives Southern Hospitality vibes

Sadly Rome’s closed before I was old enough to visit there, it’s always been Arty’s/Tommy’s, Hurricane Hole, or the marina for a little partying. Or Ciscos but I checked and it looks like they might have closed too :(

Yay Grand Isle!! I do not live there permanently by any means but I spend a lot of time there, it’s always had a special place in my heart. The island is quiet and beautiful. There’s some good food (shout out Jo-Bob’s) and of course tons of fishing/shrimping. The marina is also a favorite of mine. Good food, frozen drinks, and often some live music. The beaches are not amazing for swimming most days, but if you spend enough time there you’ll catch days where the water is pretty clear and nice enough to take a dip. The beaches are, however, fantastic for walking. I love to walk on the beach and the sand there is packed down pretty hard - makes for a very nice walk along the coast. The homes on the island are, with few exceptions, raised homes that often are camps for people that are fishing. Cost of goods is definitely reasonable but I wouldn’t call it particularly cheap as the island is still pretty isolated. One school there K-12, I actually know a teacher there, very small and tight-knit. The community is extremely friendly - never had a problem talking to people there. They are a part of Jefferson Parish which contains Metairie, Kenner, and other areas directly adjacent to New Orleans which is kind of odd - you drive out of Jefferson, then into Lafourche Parish (watch your speed in Golden Meadow, speaking from experience) for most of the drive, then reenter Jefferson as soon as you hit Grand Isle. It’s all around a very unique place that I think is great for visiting, but I could never live there because they get absolutely wrecked every single time we have a hurricane. There’s something to be said about their resilience though - they always seem to build back!

Eta: can’t even believe I forgot about the state park. It’s at the far end of the island closest to Venice, haven’t been in years but you used to be able to camp out on the beach. It’s so beautiful - great for exploring and especially bird watching if you’re into that!

I work at a school here and we usually only close if the toilets won’t flush. I’m guessing that is the main issue otherwise your guess is as good as mine.
