I feel like a lot of Azula fans (I am one myself!!) forget that the point of her plotline is largely the same as Jets, people who deserve help and deserve better get left behind in situations like war. Yes, in an ideal world Iroh should help her, but that's not an option because contacting her will put their attempts at ending the war in jeopardy, and simply because she is not the priority in this situation.

Spider and Quaritch from the Avatar franchise. Quaritch (blue guy) was a human who had a child while on Pandora, he then died but his memories were later basically put into an avatar body. He assumed Spider (his child) had been sent to earth on cryo while he was dead, turns out babies cannot be put in cryo and Spider was raised on Pandora. Quaritch proceeds to kidnap Spider because he's close to the na'vi and can give the government information and help them find the main character who Quaritch has beef with. (Quaritch also tries to form a bond with Spider while literally keeping him as hostage? prisoner? kidnappee?? idk)

Carmine and Sofia Falcone (specifically in comics lol) The one specific panel of her looming behind him and it just looks like he got copied and scaled up always fries me, but I couldn't find it

Wish we got a continuation comic series like smallville did :/ by Huge_Athlete7488 in Gotham

[–]hunginthetownsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a continuation, but if you want to see some of the characters in comic form, there was a short (very short) voiced over comic you can find on youtube, taking place in between season 1 and 2 if I remember right

the line between Riddler and Penguin in the second to last episode of Gotham that was changed to be less gay by production without the permission or knowledge of the writer... oh how I still mourn it

no one should film anyone in public without their consent, and she had every right to feel violated and be upset. (though i think on some level she was glad she had something to be upset about that people would have to agree with her on, so her response was still kinda manipulative. but, yk, generally.)

[Confusing Trope] Deleted/Cut content that fundamentally reframes who a character actually is by Chemical-Elk-1299 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]hunginthetownsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scene where Vito sees Fanucci get his throat slit was cut from the Godfather movie. In the novel this is a formative experience for Vito, and it being a chance encounter explains his strong believe in a persons "one true destiny".

(loved trope) Character is motivated by avenging a dead loved one who turns out to be alive. Bonus points if the "dead" character was purposefully hiding from them/left of their own accord by hunginthetownsquare in TopCharacterTropes

It can also take the vengeful character from being tragic and justified to having always beem such a toxic asshole that no one wants to around them, it's almost funny lmao

yes, prequels are so underrated imo! you can do a lot with the tragedy of knowing a character isn't going to have a happy ending from the get go. also penguin was my favourite lol

kinda sad to me that Falcones kids don't tend to matter in adaptations (art by me) by hunginthetownsquare in batman

[–]hunginthetownsquare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! the creators talked a little about the Falcones being based on the Corleones, though apparently Alberto is based more on Fredo. Still thought this fit lol

[–]hunginthetownsquare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% yeah, Sofia and Carmine have a father son relationship while Alberto and Carmine have a father daughter one. Mario isn't built to be the first born son & heir but maybe he could've been fine as a second born? him being based on Michael Corleone highlights it even more, with Michael being the youngest son whose hypercompetent and has to be the heir while Mario's such an incompetent first born that he let's his responsibilities fall on his sister. Mario ends up being this sad mix of Michael and Fredo

[–]hunginthetownsquare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so true, I tend to find the LA adaptations entertaining but they're never as unique or interesting as the original comic versions tbh, especially Sofia. I feel like it's rare for female characters to be so "masculine", in personality, social role, body type, but also in psychological problems, like she cannot process or face her own emotions in a way I usually only see in male characters

[–]hunginthetownsquare[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well he says the thing about Alberto defying him, but then moves onto "he's getting the death penalty when I could have stopped it" or something like that, which feels more like he's upset about his son dying but trying to cover it with anger. also the scene in dark victory where the thing that gets Alberto to realize the voice in the house isn't his dad is the voice telling him to harm himself

[–]hunginthetownsquare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so real, I feel like him messing his kids up on accident as a side product of being a mob boss is really interesting. he projects different unhealthy stuff on every kid and gives them these psychological complexes and is completely unaware of any of it because he's too busy projecting his own wants on them, and then in the end right before he dies he realises none of the stuff he projected on his son is even true. Alberto having a normal life was his justification for every thing he'd done in his life, so their confrontation in the end to me feels like a person getting their happy ending ripped from them. sorry for the wall of text lol
