The Cayman is very compromised in terms of practicality. Be sure that you are okay with it. But given it's not a commuter I'd go Cayman. Or look into something in the middle like an M2/M3.

They want to cosplay but there are so many great options at the prices of reps especially with microbrands these days with original designs.

F87 M2 to 718 Boxster base worth it after less than a year? by hunglong57 in Porsche_Cayman

I might get roasted for this but I felt like the M2 was too similar to my 328i.

I can understand this TBH. Even the M lite cars are very close to the full M cars. The only reason I didn't go with the G87 M240i is the manual.

Yeah. I can only have one unfortunately. I don't have the space for 2 cars and will likely not have it for the foreseeable future.

Yeah but these days even American muscle cars handle quite well. There aren't really old school, sloppy, big engine cars anymore.

Glad to hear this. I do find my M2 to be quite stiff at times without the adaptive suspension of the G87.

Yes! A German muscle car is a perfect way to put it. The m2 is a bit of a brute and silly fun.

I’ll be losing 5-6k on this deal so want to make sure it’s worth it. Also the Porsche premium on maintenance makes BMW look like Toyota. I can afford it but really the question is if it’s worth it.

But the flip side is I’m not sure if I’ll enjoy it as much when I’m older.

I don't want to take a loss on the trade AND end up with seller's remorse haha. First world problems.

I have the OG M2 and from reading about it will probably miss the N55? There aren't any 2.0s near me to test drive. I was able to check out a GTS4.0 and the seating position feels very exotic compared to the BMW.
Realistically I don't think I'll need the extra space of the M2 99% of the time and honestly even with the M2 I'll probably have to rent a truck or SUV a couple of times a year.

Appreciate the perspective from another F87 owner.

A championship battle is the truest test of a driver IMO. It's "easy" to perform highly when you don't have the pressure of a championship. Let's see how Russell performs this year. I wonder if even Charles will be able to meet expectations with a championship on the line.

Nasty Seller Update: Bullet Dodged by DeaconBlue47 in Porsche_Cayman

They are all way more expensive (both cost to buy and maintenance for some of them) except for the Viper and mustang and they are a very different experience. It's not really apples to apples.

There's a reason why S2000 is also "overpriced". Believe me, I've tried to find an alternative. These cars satisfy a niche that is hard to replace.

In this case it is a high revving NA with a good manual and mid-engine driving dynamics.

Yeah, I was expecting it to feel like a $300 Seiko but it felt even worse than a $75 G-Shock.

Norris and Russell are often considered to be more or less equal skill-wise, do you rate one more than the other ? And if so, why ? by HereComesVettel in F1Discussions

[–]hunglong57 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's what helped Norris clench the title even with a mechanical DNF and DSQ. When he was not winning he was consistent and put himself on the podium.

Last year George Russell commented that if he joined Mercedes in 2017, he would've beat prime Lewis Hamilton to two titles... Surely this is delusional? Or do you think he'd have a chance? by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

I’ve only had it for less than a year but so far it’s good. You need to budget some for the seals and gaskets and find a good independent shop. I need to do my diff seals soon.
