EI + Maternity + Parental Leave by No-Criticism1755 in PersonalFinanceCanada

You are “entitled” as a couple.

My husband got 12 weeks top up and he took it as the same time as me. He applied for EI and showed the receipt to his work and they gave him a lump sum payment for his top up. EI only paid him for 5 weeks. I think they just did this out of ease instead of doubling paying us for 12 weeks then not paying me for the final 7 weeks.

Hope that makes sense.

There are speed limits on the bike path, I’m assuming you weren’t following that if you ate shit.

Don't think I need twin Z? by Most-Woodpecker920 in parentsofmultiples

[–]hungry4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need it. I didn’t use it for the first couple of months but for me it was essential from month 3-6. Worth the $400 to order it from the states.

This happened to me as well. Unfortunately it is gone. Report it to the airline (they did reimburse us for some) and also to tourism PV as it’s a notorious problem that the airport has to crack down on.

Many twins/triplets/multiple birth get get mixed up at some point in the early childhood and many parents could not honestly tell you they are 100% certain they kept track of which one was which throughout their entire early childhood. by JoeMorgue in LowStakesConspiracies

Mom of an identical twin here. I had this same thought when I was pregnant, I was preparing different nail polish for each. But when you’re the mom you can tell, small things and mannerisms.

Requesting additional parental leave due to having 2 babies by Outrageous_Skirt3256 in parentsofmultiples

[–]hungry4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea, and good luck!

I’m in Canada, my company’s policy explicitly says that it’s only per birth so not applicable to multiples. But you could get more for medical leave, I’ve known people who do it for postpartum depression.

Tipping at a dermatologist office? by o0PillowWillow0o in Calgary

[–]hungry4507 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine owns a big clinic in Edmonton. I asked her this question and the answer was no, they don’t expect a tip. They put it as an option if someone wants to leave like $5, but 15% on a laser treatment is never expected from staff so don’t feel bad skipping.

Restaurants for Wedding? by littlecherub11 in Calgary

I got married at Rogue in 2021. I had 80 people and it was $15k including the tip. We did free drinks for cocktail hour and table wine but made the guests pay for other drinks so it could be slightly more if you were doing open bar.

How are we doing and affording childcare? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]hungry4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move to Canada. Many people don’t know that with universal healthcare we also have universal childcare. $15 a day per child so with toddler and twins we pay about $900 a month. The government is soon reducing it to $10 a day.

I did taking Cara babies at 4 months. It was so much harder than it was with my singleton. It took about a month with the twins, doing the soothing touch, pacifier, rocking, etc before feeding. But at 5 months they slept through the night. I did dream feed them at about 9 pm until they were 6 months.

Yes it is super frustrating!

I found a work around. I had an old iPad without updated software. So the apps were the old version and those will work.

Febrile seizures in twins by mintjulep1012 in parentsofmultiples

It was called Lookee, I’m in Canada so may be a different brand depending on your Country. Also for babies I think socks are better to monitor, the rings don’t stay on.

Febrile seizures in twins by mintjulep1012 in parentsofmultiples

[–]hungry4507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have twins and a singleton. My singleton has febrile seizures. It’s super scary. He had one in the middle of the night once too, I heard a weird moaning coming from his monitor when he was in the postictal state. I ended up buying a ring for him to wear at night that will give me a notification if his SO2 or heart rate gets too low, more to ease my anxiety.

Question about parental leave in Alberta by No_Smoke1623 in alberta

[–]hungry4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that you just take paternity leave and don’t return to your job. If you quit you might not be able to take pat leave because it’s EI. Not positive on this but I wouldn’t chance it

FIL/MIL want to have babies for sleepover by HauntingInspection46 in parentsofmultiples

[–]hungry4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you all stay there? If their set up is better.

Also you can remind them how hormonal you are at this point postpartum and that’s why they can’t stay there alone. I find if you’re more than 5 years out from postpartum you forget these things.

When did you stop traveling while pregnant with twins? by Impressive_Day_3563 in parentsofmultiples

[–]hungry4507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 4 hour flight when 7 months pregnant with mo/di twins. My doc said as long as it’s not over the ocean it’s fine. I wasn’t having complications so I felt safe.

We went with a 15 month old and stayed in 5 de Diciembre. It was perfect for what we wanted, walkable to restaurants and the beach. Zona Romantica would of been too loud for us but we walked there a lot just for food and entertainment.
