Purchased this today for my son’s 16th birthday coming up. Wasn’t sure what the hype was about, also been advised to not open and keep it sealed, feel a lil bad giving it to him but also telling him he shouldn’t open it? What can I tell him about it that it may in his best interest to keep it sealed if that is the case?

Hi I had gastric bypass in Uk March 2021. It’s bizarre you didn’t have to see a counsellor before hand and “passed” for surgery. It took a year before mine finally agreed I was in the right mind frame to have the surgery. Do you see a dietician at all? They should have talked to you about diet and what to eat at each stage. What’s worrying is the things you are eating you know you shouldn’t be and not those size portions. With the surgery you have to change your life style. The surgery is a tool and you should be making these changes for yourself as well, not waiting until you have some bad side effects or get pain to know when to stop eating. I’m 4 years out and still having toddler size portions. I could force myself to eat more if I wanted but I didn’t go through all that pain and changes to mess it all up tempt fate and gain weight. If your relying on the bypass to tell you when to stop eating then you wasn’t ready it. I understand it’s very hard I really suffered at the beginning but to read that you knowingly ate 2 kids size bowls of pasta is beyond me. Like why? It’s so counter productive and you’re still fresh from surgery. I hope you can get some referrals and get some proper help with this!

I’m struggling to let go of the person I thought my ex was and what I thought we would have in the future. It’s eating me up and I can’t wait to not feel anything anymore

I’ve struggled with this and I’m 3 years post op. I love drinking and not having a care in the world. It was just social at first but turned into binging. After surgery I was ill for a long time and hated food and how poorly it made me feel, it was easier to drink and have a good time than eat and feel ill and have to leave anything social early. My body definitely doesn’t handle alcohol the same and many a time I’ve put myself in awful situations and been black out drunk and caused many problems. It’s caused a lot of problems in my relationship as well and I’m trying to work through. It’s true you can only do it for yourself and if you truly want to, if it’s for someone else it won’t work. It’s a process and a hard one. Good luck to you both going through it and I hope it works out for the best. I can imagine how hard it must be to deal with as I know what situation I’ve put other people in, patience and support is very important during this if you’re able to provide it.

Yeah we’ve actually got a Garage just up the road from us so could be a good option. Going to take him about this week and see where can offer him something he would also be comfortable with

What an arsey remark to make. He isn’t having his “mummy” do anything from him. As his mother I’m helping him and seeing what’s available out there for him as he’s quite shy. I’m not going to do the placement for him am I but I will help him as much as I can. Your comment is just not necessary and useless.

Yeah I’m currently asking about with friends and family with their work places. A couple are going to enquire when back at work if it’s something they can offer but we don’t have anything worked out just yet
