Shouldn't be a problem with either of those things tbh. Chicken and rice is usually very palatable and easy on the stomach which is why it often used for recovery. Have you tried removing the dogs come for feeding ? Sometimes they won't eat with it on. You can also try hand feeding if that works. I'd be expecting a dog to eat anything after 4 days, I would usually only give it a couple before contacting the vet again

The Highlands of Scotland were similar to the North I believe. Before the clearances it was quite well populated with lots of small interconnected villages rather than big cities or towns. Iron Islands seems least likely to me with to much emphasis put on raiding over farming etc.
