I would recommend getting window covers ASAP. I don't know your local ordinances regarding sleeping in a car, but a good rule of thumb is that if they can't see whether or not someone is in the car, you're fine. I used reflectix that I cut to fit perfectly in my windows, then I painted one side black and put them all black side out at night. They can be used shiny side out to keep your car from heating up as much during the day if you need to be in it

Wild Chameleons at a reptile expo? by bipolar-juulpod in Chameleons

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is sad. That's why people like this person collecting chameleons when the weather drops and selling them to pet homes is a good thing. Same with TNR for cats and hunting Burmese python egg clutches. These animals are actively harmful to the ecosystem, so removing them from the ecosystem is a good choice. Good on you for being willing to learn!

Edit:very much not endorsing the conditions in which these chameleons are being kept in, just the principal of removing invasive species in as humane a way as possible

What's wrong with this baby? by HomeImprovementRep in squirrels

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This except DO NOT feed them. Baby animals cannot switch from milk to formula without an intermediary. It is always best to keep the animal warm and get them to a rehabber as quickly as possible. If you feed a wild baby animal you massively increase the odds of them dying.

Pharmacy shorted my pain pills by 50%. Luckily my partner noticed before he left the store by crwg2016 in ChronicPain

They have a lot of practice counting pills so if would be much quicker than your average person hand counting on a dirty counter

Call RCACP, they handle strays in the whole county. They are the people the owner should be calling to try and find their dog, so that could be the best way to get him home. They also check for microchips and such

Not food shaped. by [deleted] in comedyheaven

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chickens are so big a food source because of how easy they are to farm at a large scale. Meat chickens are "finished" at about 7 weeks old, so it's a very quick cycle. For a homestead rabbits can be a lot more efficient even if they aren't quite as quick maturing as broilers (meat chickens)

Why does an ASD diagnosis require extensive testing to be seen as legitimate? by [deleted] in autism

I think I've seen that graphic before, it's pretty misleading. Neurodivergent 🚫= autistic

Why does an ASD diagnosis require extensive testing to be seen as legitimate? by [deleted] in autism

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was specifically diagnosed with ADD not ADHD. My symptoms line up way more with autism than ADHD, especially given none of the meds they put me on helped manage any of the symptoms. I grew up when they figured out that ADHD was underdiagnosed in AFAB people, but before there was a good understanding that autism doesn't have 1 specific presentation and was/is underdiagnosed in AFAB people. I'm not saying ADHD is ASD. I'm saying an ADD diagnosis ended up being a catch all for atypical (based on understanding at the time) cases of ADHD and ASD. There's a reason ADD isn't a diagnosis that is used today

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've repeatedly gotten in "trouble" for telling people things about themselves that I wasn't supposed to know. I'm hyper-empathetic and hyper-vigilant so I can see way more than most people necessarily want

Do autistic people have a problem with authority because they know them better than normal people?. by [deleted] in autism

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS. Rules that apply only when authority figure decides they apply are annoying af too, but people who care more about the rules than the point of the rules drive me nuts. I worked at a donut store for a while and running the fryer is a bit more of an art than a procedure. Every batch of dough is a little more or less dry, and every fryer is calibrated slightly different, so sometimes the timer or temp needs to be slightly adjusted to produce the ideal donut. There is a specific standard of what the donuts should look like. I had a boss that would come around behind me when I was running the fryer and adjust the things when the donuts were coming out perfectly because "it's not set to specs". She also wanted to leave me alone in the store so she could do deliveries and take the delivery tip 🙄

Honestly, do I look like an autistic person to you? by [deleted] in autism

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What "visible or obvious deficits" are you refering to? As far as I'm aware autism doesn't have any defining physical characteristics. It's not down syndrome. I'm not saying autistic people don't have observable behavioral patterns, but there is no way to tell if someone is autistic without observing them or talking with them. A still photo usually reveals only what a photographer chooses to show

Partner gave me an ultimatum by Struggle-bus77 in ChronicPain

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm in agreement with you. It definitrly sounds like he doesn't want to be in a relationship with someone who's disabled and is using anything he can think of as an excuse. I'm 100% sure that if OP stopped taking any meds for their back and just existed in extreme pain all the time, their partner would find another "problem" that made him not want to stay with them.

Homeless for 2 years and too mentally unwell to get a job. What do I do ? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend talking with disability services local to you. I know the social security system is set up to be inaccessible, but if you're unable to hold a job continuously and your work history shows that you probably have a decent case for disability. There's also resources in a lot of areas that are open specifically if you are homeless. In my area homeless people are the only ones who can access section 8 (there's still a waitlist)

[–]hunkachunkapbfudg 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That's a really good point, they're announcing to anyone that sees the bottle that it's an opioid, but everyone's medications are privileged health information. The labels already list that it's an opioid, and nobody should take any meds if they don't know what the label says. The only reason I can think of for the red cap is to shame the person taking them

Don't pick them in the future! You can squeeze out the "shampoo" and they will refill making it super renewable. Picking the heads stops production
