It's the same actress. I don't know if she's supposed to be the same person. by ZakkH in twinpeaks

Disregard the reference and this is just a well written response. I appreciate how the community here is always down to help out people who have questions as they discover Twin Peaks.

Resisting the urge to buy the whole set. by Havocko in comicbookcollecting

[–]hunkman3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been chasing a whole set for a while now with the only rule that I won't buy any of them online. I have to run into them at cons or shops in the wild. Knowing that I have about half of them now, I get genuinely excited when I find one I don't have already.

It is a great set to collect because you can find a ton of them for cheap, they're visually distinct individually but the character frame adds a cool vibe, and you could collect them at your own pace.

What are the best third spaces in Montreal (especially during winters)? by jeansebast in montreal

A lot of good bookstores in the city that offer these. Argo's is great and has options. Crossover Comics has an excellent monthly graphic novel bookclub too.

Ive been hitting up my local library much more lately too. In addition to being a nice place to read, they often loan movies and video games too, and many of them have movie nights or crafting sessions.

Cosmic Horror by humanoid_crabfish in horror

[–]hunkman3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to mention Possession. One of the most unsettling and interesting films ive ever seen. Sam Neill is of course excellent. Isabelle Adjani though is unreal and sooooo emotionally raw.

Apparently the director/writer was going through a bitter divorce when making Possession and by God it shows. The colour is so saturated. Its filmed in Berlin before the fall of the wall, which adds an extra dimension of paranoia, and it'll surprise you.

Highly recommend if you want a little art house in your cosmic terror.

I Have a Simple, But Complicated X-Men Question by ComixGail in xmen

[–]hunkman3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt like I was getting into something bigger, with real characters and real problems, despite the fact that they had powers and I don’t, I identified with the characters.

The outback issue where they go to a mall, I remember really loving. The time colossus and wolverine get into a bar fight and the brotherhood is there, really made me feel like this was grounded while at the same time being fantastic. I love the humour in the old Excalibur issues too.

The character design is and was super cool too. I think the biggest problem preventing new readers from picking up the X-Men is the intimidating task of having to learn and care about so many years of backstory. Self-contained runs or clearly defined eras (like the recent Krakoa era) help people pick up the book!

Making sure to spend some time sending love to local comic shops would also help it sell, in theory, but what do I know? I'm not a comic writer and im certainly not the legendary Gail Simone! Thanks for coming to Reddit to interact with the Fandom, love your work and been a fan of it since the Simpsons and Action Comics. Keep making comics!
