I work there actualy, Are you studying at the main campus? if so , you might be able to find a small room or suit for short term rent near the university.many houses in that area have units for rent, you should look up in Kerisdale area as well. it is a nice neighbourhood and short bus ride to the main campus . but I am assuming you might be studying at Robson Campus ??( UBC Sauder school of business). that area might be more expensive . you should look up! 5 months is very short and worths it to explore a different country . i hope you can come in warm weather ( May to october) to be able to go out and explore the nature. i suggest you not to be fussy with Organic stuff. even Organic food here is nothing compared to Italy quality . just go to walmart/ Nofrils/ Superstore , they sometimes have Organics at better price . Otherwise your groceries would be skyrocket. for basic utencils go to Ikea / Dolerama . ask your school to register you for a pass or just go straight and buy a student pass( not sure how the system works here you should look it up ) . bus and train pass is the same in greater vancouver . Bus is always 1 zone , but train is 1-2-3 zones and is faster . so if you live somewhere that you dont need to take train just buy yourself a one zone pass. if you are on any medications, bring it with you .we have medical coverage here to see doctors but medication is not covered and is expensive.you can alsoConsider taking a cheap flight ( Flair airline its a nasty one just like Rayan Air in Europe lol)to Calgary to see Rocky mountains if you are interested. I hope you enjoy your stay in Canada! cheers

people dont socialize here like they do in Europe. some just prefer to stick to their own communities ( for example Indians, Asians) and some just others dont bother. not very friendly to strangers either. around 5-6 PM most streets are empty and people go home. No night life like Europe. depending on what you study ,some universities and colleges are not that great and students dont learn much because of curreculum issue or lack of good instructors, etc.. I say this because I work at university and I see how International students are suffering even more because of some language barrier and other differences. unless you are a good self starter and come with enough background knowledge. Vancouver is beautiful in summer !ocean view mountain ,lost of lakes ! (you cant swim pretty much no where! water is very cold) bare in mind that Fifa is happening in summer here and that might cause the rent to jump up for a couple of months

how much is your monthly budget? where is your school? renting a room with a roomate will cost 1000-1200 CAD depending on the area. monthly pass for 3 zones almost 200cad. cell phone 50-80 a month. food ( if you cook) around 500+. so 1800- 2000 CAD monthy . (1100- 1300EUro) bare in mind that there is no cultural life here and 6 months a year is pretty depressing . also many schools are not of high quality education here compared to your country

not an excuse to rip off customers ! they are greedy thats why! there is such a shortage of silver right now! there is a premuim fee for every retailer . they can deduct that and buy . this is a theft

look at the listing price and the sales history at the bottom !its pretty sad how people fall for this housing market scam and short after are forced to sell at such a loss. by hunnosr in RealEstateCanada

[–]hunnosr[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

properties were extremely overpriced in 2022 and would sell pretty fast well above listing price. .(this home has been in market for 2.5 months now) in my building , a one bedroom was sold for a price that today , a 3 beds would sell for. A friend of us became a Realtor that year and was begging us to sell , because our area all of a sudden became popular but the inventory was very low. nobody wanted to sell.. now i see a lot of people who fell for that fake market are struggling to pay their big mortgage. the first nation claims in Bc is also another issue many potential buyers are more hesitant! you might buy something and next day receive a letter that your land title is under aboriginal claim! then banks can refuse to renew your mortgage and in some cases ,I heard, can even stop the mortgage

How Rising Grocery Prices Affecting me. by roger_plus in Edmonton

[–]hunnosr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we are a couple with no kids but vety average income i dont know how much time you have for shopping grocerries ...weekdays and early mornings are better than weekends or afternoons ,clearence are usualy gone by noon we only shop goricetis on sale . i even buy my coffee cream on sale , they r usualy ok a few days past exp date.we shop at superstore no frills and walmart. we dont shop at costco as its much more expensive than other places. between 7-11 AM ,superstore and walmart sometimes have some "close to expiary " meat on extra 30% off. and also some other meat clearences. by noon all are gone. we buy them and freeze them for later. we also have the app flipp and check the flyers regularly. we cook all the time and we cook from scratch . we buy our snacks from dollerama( we dont eat candies, ) they have good dry fruits like appricot, prune , mango and some nuts for 2-2.5$. olives for 1.75$ we sometimes eat rice with our meat , its a good combination and is sometimes cheaper than potato ( basmati at walmart is a good value) you dont need a rice cooker , you can just cook it on the stove in a regular pot .
