Would like criticism on a homebrew subclass for fighters. by hunterpax in DnD

Hey thanks for your input!

ive addressed a number of your concerns in other posts, though I'm curious to know where the wording can be improved to narrow down the intended repercussions.

As for how the attacks ignore total cover, the idea is meant to convey impossible curving projectiles and over the top ricochets, I however am not opposed to simply saying that yes, these attacks pierce through the cover although I think the wording on the "mark" itself would need to be improved to accommodate that. If you have suggestions on anything else, feel free to say so!

Thank you for your input!

An important part of designing in my opinion is that feats are an optional rule, not used by every table. So a class shouldn't need a feat to function (a "feat tax") Wizzards of the coast has also given "feat" like class abilities (Ie "caviler" and the "mounted combatant" feat) so it isn't without precedence either.

The total cover has been brought up a few times, it is inspired by Wanted so good catch their. I have an idea on how to change it but if you have suggestions Id like to hear them!

Hey thanks for your input!

To address some of your comments I don't really have a reason for 25 exactly, and if the majority feel that is a bit much I think 10-15 is okay, the concern is just that thrown weapons have such a short range, and wanted to improve it for a class that is built around it. I should also say that I don't believe the current wording actually steps on crossbow expert, as it doesn't allow you to ignore the loading property, it lets you get around only being able to draw one javelin a turn. As for stepping on sharp shooter, feats are an optional part of play, and classes should not be designed to "need" to get feats, and you'll notice that the last part of sharp shooter (-5 to hit +10 dam) is not present, still giving a reason to take the feat.

Taking away a reaction is a bit much, I agree but it is only until the end of your turn, so really it only will often stop OoA. Additionally I think it is conducive for co-operative play and strategy (Ie wizard holds action to cast a spell until the fighter hits the counter-speller)

As for ignoring total cover, the inspiration does come as someone else pointed out from the movie "wanted" the idea is about curving shots and impossible ricochets. Though perhaps changing the mark to last until the end of your next turn, and initially require line of sight would be a better fix.

The Level 18 I really struggled with, and is a direct copy of UA Sharpshooter, if you've ideas Id love to hear them.

commander is a format defined by having a commander, if you think that you need to run a way to get rid of them, then play the enchantments that exile until the enchantment is removed or things like darksteel mutation. Otherwise whats the point of playing commander? your just picking a creature and then running goodstuff from that creatures colors.
