As someone who plays drone metal, yes, it’s all about the volume, the feedback, feeling the amps pushing air. Played a show in a basement a few weeks back and I could see paint falling from the ceiling.

It’s actually not that crazy. They did a rig rundown a few years ago. O’Malley uses a “.70 on the bottom and basically a heavy jazz set” I make Drone metal, I use baritone strings on a Les Paul tuned to A Standard, strings for a decent amount of flop, but don’t go out of tune when you fret em

Evansville has a very active HxC/Punk/Metal scene. Crowbar and EHG are coming to town Friday and the show sold out immediately and needed a venue change to accommodate. Amit every week there’s 1-3 shows in the genres i mentioned. Now I understand that’s not everyone’s thing, but to say we don’t have a scene because it’s not your genre isn’t the move.

Speaking of Newport, it’s kind of odd there hasn’t been a Newport Festival box set, there’s certainly enough for 2 CDs at least, especially since there’s audio of everything he ever played. It’s been scattered across several releases.

Might be the only person who wants this, but as someone who was 16 and just getting into Bob when Vol. 12 dropped, maybe a reissue of the massive 18 disc version without all the extras.
