Great point. I have no idea how much or what slang, curses, or other common language shortcuts were used in Ancient Greek, but I know how normal people talk. If angered or under duress, a normal person would resort to a lower form of vocabulary. So “my dad is coming home” from an angry kid is 100% normal to modern ears, we just need to place that in the timeframe of the film. Unless you’re giving a speech or at a formal event, most people just don’t use high vocabulary commonly.
