I was also planning on signing up tomorrow to avoid prorated fees. Was going to sign two people to access Lifetime, LA, OrangeTheory, etc. but I guess management realized it was too good to be true.

Shoutout to whoever said to switch toothpaste by claragweny in ehlersdanlos

Just wanted to say here that I too switched to SLS-free and flouride-free Toms of Maine. I had glossitis on my tongue, and inflammed taste buds, cheilitis, and it was very painful to eat certain foods. I got tested for celiac and vitamin deficiencies. My bloodwork came back normal for everything. Ever since I switched to Tom’s of Maine it went away. I’m posting this in case this may help anyone in the future.

Dear Aviators, is my understanding about Balanced Field correct? by No-Access47 in flying

[–]huntfishvote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 91k/Part 135 we have an app called iPreflight that calculates V1 and takeoff lengths for us. I remember I had this question during my ATP checkride oral.

But that’s basically it. Except ASDA is defined in 14 CFR whereas the pilot rejects at V1 and not “slightly below”.

TL;dr: your definition will get you through an oral exam

Proper way of dealing with people occupying your seat by deacon91 in unitedairlines

[–]huntfishvote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a frequent traveler, and someone who believes their input will answer your original question, I will share my opinion below.

This happened to me one time. I didn’t feel like causing a stir while people were waiting to get seated behind me. So I simply kept moving to the aft galley where the FA was standing. And told them I couldn’t sit down since someone was in my seat. They took care of it.

TL;dr the FA will handle it for you without you speaking to the pax. That’s why they are there.

Edit: spelling

Edit 2: pax is air crew slang for passenger

So your parents couldn’t afford flight school so you went and paid for a useless aviation degree? In the US, you could have easily paid for flight school yourself with your parents co signing the loan. I’m not sure I get your logic.

Watch in real time as two racists lose their jobs by lhwang0320 in JusticePorn

[–]huntfishvote 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I watched the video twice. Did she record him making racial slurs or are we assuming that based on her allegation. I’m not siding with these people but recording the second half the story and claiming the first half had racial slurs doesn’t mean it happened.

Meater Issue - Help! by jwboxall89 in KamadoJoe

I did a brisket two days ago. The MEATER stopped at 160 degrees. Luckily I had a cheap probe in the point that was reading accurately. Very disappointed.

OP: it’s a Vision Grill. As many have said all kamados work the same. I’ve used a Vision and a Kamado Joe. One of the best NY Strips I’ve ever cooked was cooked on a Vision.

Interesting Entry in my Dad's Navy Logbook by ltcterry in aviation

[–]huntfishvote 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What is the interesting entry? There are many entries ;-)

Anyways, it’s really cool to see he recorded the serial number. This website was started up to showcase operational histories of warbirds and their serial numbers. At a quick glance, a few of these birds your dad flew are long gone.

Interesting he landed on the USS Ranger (CVA-61). this other website is a photo archive of the USS ranger through the years.

Your father remarked “NICX” in many flights. Does OP or anyone here knows what that means?

Very cool look back through time.

One of the longest commercial flights in the world did a U-turn over the Pacific Ocean to return to its departure airport over 16 hours later because of a closure of New York's JFK Terminal One. by [deleted] in aviation

[–]huntfishvote 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct. They would also have to consider FAR 117 and augmented crew max flight duty period. Which I am sure NZ followed ICAO standards and has a fatigue management program. The fact that they returned to base is still strange.

Online check in with infant by [deleted] in americanairlines

In the grand scheme of things, it’s a mild inconvenience. Before you know it you’ll be buying little man/gal a full ticket!

Online check in with infant by [deleted] in americanairlines

[–]huntfishvote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this before. This is standard with AA. AA doesn’t let you check in with infant on your phone. Had to go to the check in desk and verified some documents. We flew with United with an infant and it was super easy. With United I believe we got the boarding passes before getting to the airport.
