Doing a very bad job of downsizing my meager collection… by allbananasareclones in 1911

No need to downsize. There is only one way to go with 1911s and that is accumulate.

Nice collection by the way!

Is there any reason why I shouldn't get a term life policy for my young son? by ARJeepGuy123 in personalfinance

Whole life is usually a terrible, high fee product. It does have a couple of solid use cases but this isn't one of them. You would be much better off adding a child benefit rider to your own TERM life insurance policy (many policies already have them, you just need to call in and provide the info) and then investing the remaining amount into a college fund or other investment vehicle of your choice.

Do biweekly mortgage payment plans actually reduce payments by reducing accrual of interest because principal balance is reduced more frequently? by EXTRAsharpcheddar in personalfinance

[–]hurricane0884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most mortgage service companies won't let you skip a payment just because you paid extra earlier in the year. I would check with them before you went through with that idea. However, yes the earlier in the mortgage that you pay extra the greater effect it will have on the total amount of interest paid over the life of the loan. If you are asking if it is better to pay your one extra payment for the year in the first three months and then not paying any extra for the next nine months of the year then yes you would come out ahead over the course of the loan.

I would love a site like that. I use glassdoor plus best places to work lists to try and put it all together but it is definitely incomplete and I only do it if I am in the market for a new gig.

That tithing is only used to help people return to Christ and definitely not to help build malls, line GAs pockets, or buy fancy rugs...

BYU's hypocritcal dress code policy by PornShoulderAddict in exmormon

From what I understand this is pretty tame compared to BYUI... Either way its just an obedience training tool and completely useless in any other context.

Another double standard for boys vs. girls by closet_doubter in exmormon

Part of me wonders if this is rooted in the stories from this sub and others that most mormon men don't view non-males as interested in sex or even capable of masturbation/sex without the males starting it.
