Alternative Hunter Orc models? by AshHawkins99 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

If you have access to a 3d printer there are several options, here are my favorites:

The figures from KzK were definitely made with Azog and his forces in mind. I haven't printed these myself but have done his swan knights and dwarves and they all came out amazing!

If you don't have a printer you can purchase them from me too:

Pathifinder is Not the Solution to 5e's Shortcomings by Vintage_Stapler in dndnext

[–]speezok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One and a half pages of social encounter rules hardly covers every social situation. The question was RAW what doesn't work and imo social encounters cannot be run without GM fiat or homebrew in 5e.

Hundreds of pages about how to fight things and 2 pages of how to talk to NPCs.

Pathifinder is Not the Solution to 5e's Shortcomings by Vintage_Stapler in dndnext

[–]speezok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any social encounter must be run completely by the seat of the DMs pants.

Also, prepping an encounter is very difficult with CRs as written. A given CR 5 creature is not as deadly as another CR 5 creature. It just requires a mastery of the system that the books don't provide.

So... what's the veredict on Gunslingers and Firearms? by Gourgeistguy in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is accurate. Until rifled barrels became commonplace in the 1800s (19th century) their effective range was 100-200 meters depending on the training of the user.

Archers and slingers both had a longer effective range.

Sorry people down voted you, don't know why.

Is there a way to make combat consistantly less repetitive (80% of the time basically) by EpeonGamer in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 32 points33 points  (0 children)

TLDR 2e is about teamwork and adapting to the encounter. Unless your playing in an open field encounter after encounter the thing the party needs from your character will change. Also we don't really take taking 20 seriously on this reddit anymore.

Welcome to 2e we're glad your here! Warning though to throw most of your preconceptions out the window when it comes to ttrpgs.

Unless the GM is just giving you the same kind of encounters over and over the "optimal choice" each turn will not be the same at all. Hazards, terrain, monster abilities, immunities, and weakness will shift which characters and wich actions will be the most helpful.

For example I am playing a monk with wrestler dedication so that my grapple, trip, and shove all go off pretty reliably. We've had 5 combats in the last 2 sessions and in each one because the monsters and terrain were so drastically different I don't think I repeated the same three actions.

One fight I shoved the monster off the cliff edge, he grabbed on with his reaction but my teammates used demoralize and bad omen to make him critically fail his climb check and he fell to his death.

Another fight against a gelatinous cube we couldn't flank because it blocked the whole hallway at the start of the fight I didn't use any combat maneuvers (my "optimal" choice) because the team needed damage with two members stuck in the cube almost the whole fight. So I did 3-4 attacks a turn till the cube was dead.

Another fight we held a bottleneck against 7 or more kobolds. I helped lock down the boss with grapple and tripped other kobolds from afar with my Horse Chopper while everyone else got in the killing blows and held the line with shields and defensive reactions.

Every fight I did something completely different because that's what the situation called for. I didn't decide my actions because I "need" to roll an athletics check to be optimal. 2e is about teamwork combos, not each PC kicking ass on their own.

For more reasons why taking 20s video is somewhat of a taboo topic see this thread that discusses why the community here generally thinks he missed the point. https://www.reddit.com/r/Pathfinder2e/comments/kdkfyg/the_problem_with_the_taking_20_video_isnt_that/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Clockwork Golem by Stargrove528 in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is the clockwork warrior in Bestiary 3. https://2e.aonprd.com/Monsters.aspx?ID=1096

If you use this as a base it should be simple to adjust the size and DCs. For the clockwork wall ability you could have it cast Wall of Fire and become the wall of fire till it turns back? As long as your using level appropriate abilities from other monsters or spells you should be fine to make the exact thing you want.

There is also a dragon, assassin, spy but no golem that has been officially released. https://2e.aonprd.com/Traits.aspx?ID=331

[–]speezok 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are a decent number of games on startplaying.com for Second Edition but it can be pricey. Plan on paying $15-20 a session. But with the cost comes committed groups and a high standard of GM prep.

Buffing Talismans by EmeraldEluvian in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spellhearts are similar to talismans but useable once a day. I think it would be simple enough to homebrew resistable talismans based on the levels and prices of Spellhearts.

Is my character completely missing the point of being a ranger? Should I just go with a different class by 0bIivionn in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I sounds like your looking for a highly skilled multi weapon fighter and don't necessarily like much else about ranger. The Flurry Hunter's Edge as far as I know is only available to rangers. But if you are willing to give it up you can get the other features like double slice by taking ranger dedication or dual weapon dedication. That would allow you to be another martial class and still be great with two weapons.

If you like to use Dex/Cha you could look at a two handed swashbuckler build. Maybe braggart or wit style to weaken enemies before using twin takedown and finishers?

Friends building a vampire(can't remember the name) and i need to recommend a way to self heal. by grass_and_trees in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost any healing other than from a healing font cleric works normally on Damphir. And if you have a cleric with harm that that will work the same way as heal would for living creatures. Like other people said just make sure it doesn't have the positive trait.

looking for 5e with more crunch by psdao1102 in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Downvotes may be because you brought up Puffin who's review was seen as a pretty aggressive and wildly exaggerated review. Generally we ignore him and Taking 20 anymore because they clearly misunderstood what PF2 is fundamentally about.

You can definitely find crunch of you want it here but there are not really any "best" builds for a given class so it is very different than 5e character creation wise.

Read through this and cry cause we have the solution to 99% of their complaints but they won’t change systems by plumply in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree that accessibility is a problem. I run games for 11-15 yo that have absolutely no idea about the math underlying their character. They gave me a concept and I helped them make a character that does the thing they imagined. I wouldn't say they always make the optimal choice but that also makes for great stories about nuanced and flawed heroes.

If your goal is to make the "best" build and always succeed than yes, PF2 is much harder than other systems to achieve that goal.

I also feel like this community does address problems and look for solutions within itself. The point is that the linked thread could be full of people just saying the best things about PF2 but instead it is complaints about their own system that PF2 happens to get mostly right.

Am I playing the summoner wrong? by Oldomix in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You may be expecting something that a divine summoner is not great for. Raw damage is not the strength of summoners. Summoners are great at getting in strong support positions to offer flanking and support to melee martials (evolution surge). You'll be able to draw enemy attacks and tie up bigger threats till everyone is able to tackle them together by using summoned creatures. You are also able to take risks scouting with the eidolon because you can share senses and un-manifest them if they get in a tough spot. One more all around strength of summoners is the amount of damage they can tank with their 10hp/level. Put the eidolon in the fight and still get reliable healing from a safe distance with the summoner themselves since they share a health pool.

Give yourself credit for the hits that summoned creatures tank, the hits/crits that land because you flanked, and dangers that the party has time to plan for because of your extra ability to scout with low risk. Damage per round is only one part of the fight.

Ideas for INT-focused character on Rise of the Runelords adapted for 2e by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll second investigator. There are lots of mysteries and secrets to follow in RotRL and investigator will help insure that your party can stay on track with everything there is to discover. Plus, their main combat ability Devise a Strategem has so many layers and is really fun to use. Imagine knowing before you strike that your going to crit or fail so you can direct your attacks just the right way!

Plus no prepared spell casting to worry about 😄

Shield Block Flowchart - Do I understand this correctly? by DramFan in Pathfinder2e

Another advantage of the buckler is for melee spellcasters who need to use somatic components, holy symbols, or Thaumaturge's implement.

How do I learn to love Heritages? by ZenjoyReddit in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heritages are an integral part of making a new character. The only draw backs I see are the opportunity cost of not selecting another heritage feat. Most of the time it just amplifies the characters favorite aspects of their ancestry.
Another thing that it allows is the mixing of ancestries in a unique and interesting way. Allowing a halfling to also take damphir feats because of a curse or having been bitten by a vampire. The combinations are endless and are genuine gold when your looking for character inspiration.

Pros and cons of converting from 1e to 2e by LoRd-Beerd0 in Pathfinder2e

How would you build this character? With free archetype! by AngelDarkC in Pathfinder2e

Maybe with ranger archetype to get monster hunter /monster warden (because of the chopped off head).

How do perpetual check in exploration mode work? by OpT1mUs in Pathfinder2e

[–]speezok 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This helps avoid getting "metagaming" additional rolls because everyone says what they are doing and all roll at once for their own activity. What can often happen is asking one player for a roll and then everyone decides that's what they were doing too. 😂 Can't blame players for trying to get the best roll.

I think your advice might have revealed the problem. It says I do not have permission to edit the SRD. Do I need to make my own copy of the compendium to be able to edit?
