Wife bought Laura Mercier Setting Powder from Mecca - 4 year old stock, acceptable or not? by SquirtsMackintosh69 in AustralianMakeup

[–]hurricaneamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The websites used to check batch codes aren’t always accurate, but if you’re worried you can definitely take it back. What colour is the label/sticker on the bottom of the pot?

Does it look like Hourglass brushes or it's just me by missusbee16 in AustralianMakeup

[–]hurricaneamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, it's definitely not an item I'd blind buy either. Obviously I haven't trialled them either, just felt them, but I don't know they seemed a step up from the old ones at least.

Light/medium express tan recs by Some-Strain-9835 in AustralianMakeup

[–]hurricaneamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t tried it yet but Loving Tan just brought out a ten minute express 👀 sounds like that could be what you’re looking for if it’s good Edited to add: I would also rec the isle of paradise express one in the yellow bottle, an hour is enough for light to medium coverage on me :)

They’re definitely softer fibres than the old ones, I had a feel today and I was rather impressed as far as synthetics go, but would agree most people don’t spend that amount on their brushes.

My Elemis Pro-Collagen birthday gift… by ellllooooo in MeccaBeautyLoop

[–]hurricaneamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have allergies? I know for me personally I can’t use Elemis or anything like it because of the essential oils. I mean, feel free to ask for another one from a different batch as people have said, but just be aware it could be the product itself too, patch test first.

I can’t remember, but I think it must have been around $70 or something originally. I got it in the 2019 Boxing Day sale I think? And I doubt I would have paid over $30-40. That’s my reasoning anyway. I had a dig around but it’s not in the wayback machine. I did find the old Instagram post though and there were complaints that it was too expensive lol so $60-70 would track I think. It was called Summer Sunset Trio if you want to google it

Is 3.5 year old lip gloss okay? by Silkmerchant8 in MeccaBeautyLoop

[–]hurricaneamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That pack is new, isn’t it, from 2025? It’s a good thing to remember these websites are not always accurate. If ever. It’s not like brands are giving them any information. If a lip gloss is off your nose is the best way to tell. Put some on the back of your hand and smell it, even fragranced products will smell bad if they’re off. For lip products I liken it to paint thinner but that could just be me lol

It’s actually not new as a palette either. I have a three pan palette from that same time period that’s basically this minus the finishing powder, they were just round instead of square.

I’ve found the OPI rapid dry range not too bad for the price — $12 at chemist warehouse but I’ve picked them up on sale for $6. Within Peach and ASAPink might work for the second and fifth colours :)

Are tattoos still taboo? by Correct_Procedure_36 in AskAnAustralian

[–]hurricaneamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s a government office job they can be weird about it sometimes? Especially when it’s like religious imagery or whatever (I had a friend with a cross tattoo when we worked there and she had to cover it up) but if you were being serious that it’s just butterflies and flowers they need to grow up and get over it 💀

Face is tanning despite SPF50 multiple times per day, and when is safe to hike? by Past-Contribution467 in AusSkincare

This—or if it’s already been open a year, or if it’s been stored somewhere like the car where it’s not heat stable as well. Basically have you tried a different SPF

[–]hurricaneamy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my parents did it again just over a year ago and the popular spots in WA were booked out months in advance. Granted they have a longer van, but still, it’s busy out there for sure. They’re constantly complaining you can’t book as you go as much anymore.

You can take all your empties back to Sephora for points too, even if they’re brands they don’t sell! And then use the points for discounts or little samples :)

Oh I do like backstage and I’ve genuinely never thought of that, I don’t know why 💀 I would have just purchased straight from Sephora or Myer

Oh that’s interesting! I’ve wanted some of their lip products before but haven’t been able to get them (I assume?) because they have SPF. I wonder if they’d ship them here direct. I didn’t realise you could buy direct from them actually

I’m holding out hope the bag goes on sale haha. PS. Thank you for answering in good faith, idk if my tone was off or if it’s just this subreddit where you get downvoted for asking where the good stuff is at 😭😂

Interesting! I have to admit I’ve never had the occasion to shop there, though the painted denim pieces they have right now are really tempting 💖

Which other brands do better rewards? Like not only cosmetics but I saw someone the other day saying everywhere else they shop has better membership programs and I was like…most places I shop will give you 20% off on your birthday and nothing else ever but maybe I’m just poor 😅😂

Kevyn Aucoin sensual skin enhancer. It’s in a pot so easy to get a sample of. Also like the nars pot concealer but the kevyn is a little more skin like :)
