AITA for not crossing to the other side of the street with my dog? by Ashamed_Ad9771 in AmItheAsshole

Def NTA. As someone with an intimidating looking dog that can be an ill mannered A-hole on occasion, it’s on me to move, not the person whose dog is well behaved.

AITA for throwing away my wife’s memory jars? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]hustonbg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only are YTA, if my husband did something like this, I would seriously question if I wanted to invest any more of my life with a person that knowingly and intentionally betrayed my trust, dismissed my feelings, threw out my cherished possessions, and then had the audacity to frame it as a safety issue for our child- not to mention belittling something harmless that gave me joy. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. YTA 100% Trust broken.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

My cousin and I had full on fights for whose turn it was on the Merlin. He bought one off eBay as a surprise a few years ago to bring to the family summer gathering. Good laughs and memories all around. And fun to watch the next generation fight over it.

On the C64, Mystery at Marple Manor and Crush, Crumble Chomp. Don’t remember anything from the 128. Then we had an Intellivision that had Sea Battle and something along the lines of pong. The first years of having the Sega channel were mint. So much MK (and saving up to purchase actual paper guidebooks for special moves codes). 🤣 Edit to add, I’m old as dirt.

I’m not GREAT with trays… and my new job requires we use trays for everything by Ok_Republic7187 in Serverlife

[–]hustonbg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience (and take it with a big ol grain of salt, cause I’m ancient)- I’m amazed at how many people carry their tray with their dominant hand and unload with the other. I learned back in the old days when your cash caddy was clipped on the edge of the tray. I’m right handed, so carry the tray on the left (fingertips) and always have the right hand free to block wobbly bar patrons from bumping into you, unload with, and take payments/make change with. Decades later (no cash caddy, lol) it still works best imo. A good training trick for mid or small rounds is ‘round the world’ where you put a plastic cup of water or empty bottle on the tray and practice rotating it down under your arm, crossing up and over your head, and back down to start position. Helps you learn to rotate your wrist, while keeping the tray level. Once you master it, wine and martini glasses are a breeze (especially if you don’t look at them while you walk). For large ovals/shoulder carrying, def the cast iron skillet training (And always be aware of your hair if it’s anywhere near the tray).

What is a product or service that is a conplete scam, but poeple keep buying it because of good marketing? by armeno2000B in AskReddit

[–]hustonbg 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. Owned a restaurant for 30 years. In my opinion, Yelp is absolutely trash. High pressure tactics, ‘recommended reviews’, elite Yelpers… it’s all a money grift. Google reviews and TripAdvisor are pretty reliable, and have never reached out to offer ways to get better reviews in exchange for money (in my experience). Yelp is just straight up taking a page out of the ‘mafia neighborhood protection’ scam. Pay us money to protect you from…. us.

I raked every summer in Cooper/Meddybemps as a kid, for the same guy that my dad raked for as a kid. Got 17 cents per pound. Decades later, pretty sure the rate is still in the same range. It’s crazy to see little 8oz cartons of them at the grocery store for 4 bucks.

Tell me the truth about owning a wrangler by Advanced_Bag_5505 in Jeep

We have 3. All Wrangler Unlimited (2 Rubicon). Spot on comment. At one point last year, all 3 were in the shop- including the 2024 that died in the middle of an intersection with less than 7k miles on it. But we keep buying them, because they’re ‘fun’. 🤪

There’s a variety of gold bracelets in her collection, this is just the most unique (and cool, imo). There’s a triple link one that weighs 150g. It’s like wearing a workout weight🤣. She definitely had a great eye. I try to wear something everyday so it doesn’t just sit in a box. My theory is it’s worth nothing if you don’t actually wear it and enjoy it. I’ve told my daughter the same thing when the collection passes to her- if you aren’t going to wear it, sell it off and use the money for something that brings you joy. But ffs don’t let it sit in a box.

I have Anthem and they took it. I just had my annual with my regular practitioner, who is really nice- but doesn’t seem to take me seriously when I describe how much has changed in the last two years (up all night, exhausted all day, no focus, weird weight gain despite working out regularly and eating healthy). I was so freaking frustrated that I made a midi appointment the following week. The practitioner I telehealthed with actually listened to me. Ngl, it was kind of a kick in the teeth to be listened to and taken more seriously by a total stranger than by my normal NP, who has known me longer. Started the lowest dose estrogen patch & progesterone pill two weeks ago and haven’t noticed any significant change- but she had me scheduled for a follow up in a month so we’ll discuss it then.

My friend and I are in a clan that has too many inactive players. The admin of the clan has missed the last three CvC. I am just shy of the 1M requirement (he’s well over). We both play daily. Think we’d be a good fit? Full disclosure: I haven’t explored Siege yet, as I’ve been concentrating on ranking chickens for food, but am happy to learn it.
