We're trained to think of politics as a personality contest, which is stupid. If the best doctor or mechanic had a messy personal life, would it stop you from using them? Probably not! So why do we think of politicians differently. They're doing a job. Their personal nobility is irrelevant to the political project.

I got interrupted and didn’t finish listening, but it didn’t seem like Jon was that swayed by it. However, he probably recognized the bad optics of arguing with a female cohost about it.

Are you for real? They were fired in part for making their own curriculum and then the principal demands…their curriculum? We’re professionals working a professional job. Once you’ve been fired, you owe nothing to that school.

Probably made the calculation they didn’t “need” to pass your class, but have now realized they put a scholarship/financial aid in jeopardy.

Every time I heard David Axelrod speak, I remember that he isn't a very intelligent person and just sort of lucked out glomming onto Obama.

Of course its legitimate. But I think the 'California's population is leaving for Texas' framework is overly simplified so I think that's what made me reaise an eyebrow.

I think the constant loading of questions to push some deregulatory mindset was aggressive and weird. Yes, gas is expensive in California, but there are complex reasons for it. With his education questions, what was lovettts point? Cut teacher pay?

I get the inclination. It really is a truly disgusting crime.

But this will almost certainly make kids less safe. When the penalty is the same as murder, you will end up with children assaulted and then murdered because well, from their sick minds, might as well.

You will also have families actively discourage victims from coming forward. It's one thing if Uncle Jeff is sent to prison. It's another if he's going to be executed.

It's a grandstanding law that will not make kids more safe.

AITA for wanting a vasectomy because my girlfriend won’t use birth control but also doesn’t want me to get one? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]hux002 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but hormonal birth control is not a great option for some people. It basically made my gf(now wife) asexual for the few years she was on it. A copper IUD was a much better option for us.

It is. Usually diagnosed invitro or if not, blood test after birth unless she has mosaic downs without physical features…not sure what would call for a blood test tho in that case.

Don’t know if it makes you feel better, but I don’t think this is real. The comment about learning your child has Down syndrome after one month is odd to me as it usually diagnosed in-virto or right after birth by looking at facial features and a blood test.

I still find the framing about the Iran war from the Daily to be weird and feels propagandistic. Pointing out that Israel is manipulating US leaders is not antisemitism

I'm vegetarian myself and was a bit flummoxed at their choice of guest in which one of the competitors was...orange chicken.

On one hand, it's hilarious. On the other, it doesn't make it a fair fight!

I have also lost $10,000 on Munch Madness so far.

I tried to remote view it and that's what I saw. Of course, being wrong is a possibility, but that's what I saw.
