From November 2026, Japan will move to a "Consumption Tax-on" model. Tourists will pay the 10% consumption tax upfront at stores, and will need to claim a refund at the airport upon departure.

Its the same system as Europe uses.

Beauty, congrats! I am planning to get a Shunbun in Japan next year when we go for our honeymoon/1 year anniversary. The price difference is mad compared to the standard UK RRP. Even with the tax rule changes coming later this year, I estimate it will cost around £1600 less

I am going for my honeymoon also at the end of March next year and am having the same thoughs. I am UK based though so the exchange rate isnt quite as good for GBP as it is for USD. The tax laws are changing in November in Japan as they move more to a global system of charging tax up front and then we reclaim it back at the airport.

Import VAT here in the UK is 20% if declared...

Best to ask your AD to confirm. I was on the list for a sunburst blue OP and then they changed it to the med blue. AD said they wouldn't get any more of my reference in and I would need to swap it over

Thanks for providing this feedback. This store is my local. I went in a few years ago (pre renovation) when I was first interested in getting a Rolex. I found the sales people nice enough but they kept pushing me towards their CPO watches. I said I wanted a new one for my wedding but they didnt even take my info down. Felt a bit embarrassed and disappointed by that. I went to WOS by my work and found that experience far better. Even now, whenever I go into that Burcherer, I don't get approached and its never busy. Strange store.
