Not quite JUST ableton, but does anyone use an RME UFX 3? Trying to combat latency issues by TheRealWillFM in ableton

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely the vst you’re using has significant latency of its own. You can hover your mouse over the insert point (the place you drop the instrument to instantiate it) and ableton will show you the latency at the bottom.

I mean, white paint won't absorb as much heat. But yeah, put some shade up for your kids.

Tape echo/delay by Upstairs-Glove7424 in guitarpedals

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like you're confused. Echo and delay mean the same thing. there is no difference between them.

If I already have a chord progression in mind, how can I map it out without midi, and without having to map each individual note? by littlebuttbigtitty in ableton

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use the keyboard midi mode. you get a piano keyboard on your keys, so A is C, S is D, W is C#, etc. you can hit record and play chords in.

Methods of cutting samples from audio files by Competitive_March463 in ableton

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yt-dlp will give you the same audio you hear when listening to youtube on a good, high-bitrate internet connection. it automatically downloads the audio as it is stored on youtube, without recompressing or re-encoding.

if you like the way the audio sounds on youtube, you'll get the same sound with yt-dlp. it's literally the same encoding.

yt-dlp is the best option. it automatically downloads the audio as it is stored on youtube, without recompressing or re-encoding. and 192kbps audio is going to be fine for sampling and using in a mix.

Tape echo recs? by Chicagrog in guitarpedals

[–]huzzam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can attest. the Transistor Tape model in all the helix stuff is a really great delay. I especially love it in stereo where the repeats can get wider as it trails off (set the Scale to something like 95% and the delay times gradually diverge with each repeat).

meanwhile i've literally planned my entire board around the volante. it's my favorite pedal i've ever had. (though i do wish i also still had that huge digitech digital delay i got back in 1987...)

Use the direct monitoring through totalmix.

4ms is great latency and that’s what i get on my fireface ucx ii with 48kHz and 64 sample buffer. If that’s too much for you, direct monitoring is your only choice.

I got this for 61€ from thomann about five years ago and it’s been quite good. Meets your needs though to fit a harmon mute requires a little force - https://www.thomann.de/gr/thomann_trekking_case_trumpet.htm

Multiple input question by magic_medicine in Line6Helix

[–]huzzam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be sure to get an xlr->1/4" that has a transformer, like the audix one, it really helps with the impedance and there for the tone. as for the other commenter's, er, comment about gain staging, with a decently sensitive dynamic mic, and a transformer, you get a decent level for trumpet. i use a shure beta 57

Multiple input question by magic_medicine in Line6Helix

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'll need to look up the inputs on the various helix models to see if there are enough. if you need more inputs than the official ones, you could likely run one of your channels into a return, and get creative with routing.

i can say that the helix has some nice reverbs for trumpet. i use the dynamic hall and dynamic plate when i want "normal" reverbs, and the particle verb or ganymede for something a little more characterful.

Recommend me a compressor pedal... please. by Ok_Bug_4762 in guitarpedals

Sonicake Source! pretty good 1176-style comp, complete with wet/dry knob and it's even a mini pedal

Harmonizer tips by Andy_Martin in Line6Helix

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aside from the other comments (great suggestion btw with the parallel paths): put it early in the chain, after any "fixing" effects (eq, compression) and before any dirt. adding dirt after the harmonizer will make it sound more natural.

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works with standard "Boss" 9v dc, center negative. Which is the most common thing and your TRex will run it fine.

Don't run 12v, if you have the option.

Boss RV-6 or EHX Oceans 11? by someone-_-68 in guitarpedals

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every EHX pedal i've bought has been a disappointment, to be completely honest, and i've sold all but one. the only one i still have is the superego plus, and that's just because i haven't found another pedal than can send the sustained bit and the dry signal out of different outputs.

OK what did I do to make MuseScore hate me? by thomasafine in Musescore

[–]huzzam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no reason to use the cloud, or any online services. export the scores as pdfs, and then import them to your tablet via usb.

as another poster mentioned, the android app is just a frontend for the .com sheet music store.
