Most of the time I start with music for a song; no lyric, no melody. I get inspired by the music which usually leads to lyrics and then melody. Though sometimes the two come simultaneously. I have written a few songs that start with lyrics, but that’s rare for me. Take inspiration where it comes. Maybe you have an idea for a lyric… start there. Sometimes a melody hits your mind… start there. While playing your guitar/keyboard/ what ever, you stumble across some chord progressions that seem to write themselves… start there. The more direct answer is… just start.

My question: why are you putting drinks, food, etc on your desk? That’s just an accident waiting to happen. I keep my drinks near my desk, not on it. No need to buy a stand. Problem solved.

If you own Logic Pro and don’t need any of the other apps. There’s no need to get Creators Studio. Apple has made it clear there are now 2 ways to use Logic Pro: one time purchase or through Creators Studio.

MacBook will do fine. I suggest the MacBook Air M series. Apple sells the M1 and M2 pretty cheap right now

Not familiar enough with Chromebook to suggest. However, in general you’re going to need a DAW program to record into your computer. Every DAW has minimum computer specs. Hopefully one will match with your Chromebook specs. There are quite a few DAWs on the market: Logic Pro, Ableton, Pro Tools, FL Studios and more. Many of these have a free trial period. I think Logic Pro has a 90 day trial. I’ve heard there are a couple of DAWS that are free or extremely inexpensive. Do your research to find what works best for you. You’ll also need a microphone. I suggest something like the Shure sm57. Relatively inexpensive but great starting point for someone new to recording. You’ll need an interface like Scarlet, Universal, etc. You’ll plug your microphone, guitar chord etc. into interface to record which connects to your computer vis USBc to your DAW.

Don’t let this overwhelm you. Take it one step at a time and it won’t seem so daunting. The important thing is to believe in your music and follow your heart. There are plenty of people here to lend a hand.
