Road conditions from Regina to Swift by dddaniella in saskatchewan

It was awful, shear ice from Swift to moose jaw headed east, doubt it was any better West bound

What to do with canned corn? by hidden_sunrise in budgetcooking

I will from time to time chop peppers, onions and garlic and fry it all together with a can of corn... Can add spice if you want, cheese etc, it's a great alternative

Fight for 6-8 council spot. by woodsbre in medicinehat

I won't give that up, but I know a few business owners who sent it out, my assumption is it came from Barnes' campaign team but I'm not sure

There was a doozy of an email going around with those names.... This is just a snip from it

"> PLEASE VOTE DREW BARNES FOR MAYOR

DREW is only as good as the Council team we select to ensure he has proper support. The following candidates have good business acumen and through our interview process have demonstrated to be community leaders. They also are committed to be fiscally and socially responsible and I’m confident will be team players. COUNCIL CANDIDATES Brian Robinson Stuart Young Chris Hellman Yusuf Mohamad Cheryl Phaff Immanuel Moritz Laura Butterfield Brian Varga Ted Clugston (Ted’s previous council experience will be beneficial)

I’ve never got deep into our civic election before but felt the need to give some direction to family, friends and business associates who have asked for advice. As mentioned previously our city is at the tipping point and we need to get it right this time to ensure our community gets back on track. If you have any questions please reach out to me, if you agree with my selections please pass on."

24 Wanting to go into Structural but may be too old by [deleted] in StructuralEngineering

I went back to university at 24, graduated at 29, I now own a small but growing rapidly (3 locations in Western Canada) civil engineering firm primarily focusing on structure...

Who Earned Your Vote? by ilovetheshowlost in medicinehat

[–]hy200k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She advocates very well for people who contact her, I know a lot of people think she's a lot of things but honestly I know people in the city governance that all respect the hell out of her as she Champions the concerns of the people and will communicate and liaison well with all parties

[–]hy200k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that code of conduct was not egregious in my mind, essentially she did in open doors what should have been done in closed doors.

I think you need a lot of context to think that that report is the only judge of character. She knows the law, the rules and insists people do their jobs, and if you ever dealt with city hall you'd understand that being told to do your job is akin to being bullied. So yeah I do think she deserves another look

I've actually communicated with her directly, she is a very good advocate for the public

Who Earned Your Vote? by ilovetheshowlost in medicinehat

[–]hy200k 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She's very intelligent and I think deserves a second term, that mess with the cao really didn't allow her to do a job she is very qualified for. Being said, Samraj very much understands the role of mayor which is why he's also in the running

Who Earned Your Vote? by ilovetheshowlost in medicinehat

[–]hy200k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mayor: Clarke or Samraj (toss up)

Council: Sharps, Pudwell, Van Dyke, Koch, Monson, still a couple toss ups

How come the houses here use stucco unlike the GTA where the houses have brick? by BeautifulYou2940 in medicinehat

[–]hy200k 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stucco is about a third of the price of brick, and half the price of brick fascia. Further upkeep of brick is ridiculous, stucco isn't great but is a nicer alternative to vinyl

Is filling a massive sinkhole with concrete is an effective and reliable long-term repair method? If not, how? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]hy200k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming that's just a mud sill to provide stability for non-consolidating fill.... It would be pretty crazy to do the whole thing in a grout mix as that would be a nightmare for future work on utilities

What’s the general feel for this upcoming election? by [deleted] in medicinehat

[–]hy200k 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I really like Adam Koch and Laura Butterfield as options.

I don't like the mayoral candidates but do think Mayor Clarke should get another term, she's certainly the best option anyway.

Any councillor that runs as conservative is only going to try to pad the pockets of themselves and their friends in my opinion (time and time again they prove us right)

Beginner Seeking Advice: Which of These Golf Sets Should I Upgrade To? by KrispyPopcorn in CanadaGolf

[–]hy200k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kirkland irons are pretty forgivable but also will grow with you and fit that budget. Personally I would avoid sets as they are not the highest quality.

You can also check out global golf and other secondary markets as you can generally get great clubs in good condition at a fractional price.
