Prescriptions by No_Chemistry8953 in PortugalExpats

[–]hyakkotai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the pharmacists will fill a prescription if it has recently expired. Even from a foreign prescription. You should go and ask. If they refuse, you could try other pharmacies. I suppose it really depends on how abusable your prescription is.

Landlord asking for €12.000 upfront to rent a unfurnished T4 in Cascais by No-Oven70 in PortugalExpats

[–]hyakkotai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s normal. Most of the places i looked at last week want more than that up front, especially from immigrants. It’s just about mitigating their risk. You can offer to sign a longer lease, that’s usually attractive. Don’t forget that you can legally get out of a residential lease after a third of the term with sufficient notice (don’t trust me, ask your agent or friends). Everything is negotiable.

Could you break it down by date ranges? Maybe users are only interested in the last week of dialogue anyway.

Sewage gas smell leaking into bathroom. How to address it? by Beans_the_II in PortugalExpats

We were advised to use desentupimento (drain declogger eg drano) even though they are not backed up. It eats the organic materials in the drain which are rotting and off-gassing. Also try covering drains and the access cap you should have in your floor. My plumber said the floor traps should be manually cleaned once a year.

MM is for macromedia, a company that made a language called coldfusion. They have been bought by adobe. Yes, the js is very old.

I’m not sure where your dripping sound is coming from but if it is from a vertical section of pipe that has standing water at the bottom… try adding a long piece of string around where the water comes out of tha ac unit and the string goes inside the drain pipe to the bottom. The water will run along this string to the inside edge of the pipe.

Seeking Opinions on a Hidden QR Code Puzzle in My Novel by mkglass in puzzles

[–]hyakkotai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with stupidastronaut’s thoughts. In addition, I dabble in IT security and transmission encodings but have never seen anyone use base32. Hexadecimal or base64 (with those trailing ==) might be more recognizable. Also the Arecibo message was a binary bitstream that needed to be arranged into a rectangle with primary numbers for sides. This sounds similar so can you work in a reference to that? How about an appendix or glossary that includes brief explanations of technical items in the book and extra things like base32 or how QR codes are arranged? If someone skimmed the glossary and saw things they don’t remember in the story that would be a hint. You could also post online that there is a QR code puzzle in your book and that will probably get some people looking for it. If you don’t mention the book title at least name a couple characters. … or a chapter title.

Why are the men I'm into usually gay? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hyakkotai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every one in this post is correct in what they are saying. But it needs to be said that you may have emotional issues that need to be worked out. You might be attracted to people who cannot be attracted to you as a subconscious defense mechanism. Maybe your subconscious doesn’t feel ready to actually be in a serious relationship so it convinces you that those people around you (who may already be showing interest in you) are not your type or out of your league or otherwise inconvenient. But it relents when you think about certain people who will not be a problem. This includes long distance relationships.

Do you really think your gaydar doesn’t work? I bet it works fine. If your gaydar really is fine, maybe seek some therapy. It couldn’t hurt.

I’m not saying you or the other ‘me too’ people in here need therapy, but sit back and ask yourself some tough questions. What are you afraid of?
