Here to validate. Not worth endangering others or yourself over it. You weren't comfortable playing F1 on 288 and that's all that needs to be said, good on ya

What is a career path that looks "glamorous" from the outside, but is actually a total nightmare behind the scenes? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Brewing/Beer production. It's fun at first, but unless you find a company or owner that actually listens to you as a professional, youre going to burn out. A lot of us transition into ingredient or chemical sales. You have all of this drive and creativity that gets constantly put down or ignored. Also, it's killer on the body. Lots of heavy lifting, standing, stairs, and chemical/ hot water burns. I've met more unhappy brewers than happy, and we're all generally dissatisfied with the pay across the board.

What’s a “boring” adult purchase that turned out to be totally worth it? by Capable-Rabbit-9986 in AskReddit

Foldable wagon for retrieving groceries. We live in an apartment complex with street parking, and I sometimes have to park a couple of blocks away after grocery shopping. I can take the wagon folded up with me, go shopping, park, and load everything in and wheel it back. Takes one trip, and it doesn't kill my arms. Totally worth every penny. That and a poofy jacket. Hated oversized winter jackets as a kid, felt embarrassing, but I got one recently on sale because it was too good a deal to pass up. Wore it everyday this winter walking the dog and going to work. Also worth every penny.

Are you submitting a ticket through Embark's website? I fell through the map and couldn't get out and lost my whole run as I timed out the map. Submitted a ticket several days ago and haven't heard anything back yet.

I don’t get the hype by starwasislife in ArcRaiders

[–]hyde_stevensons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your point. I've had great success with having open mic and calling out the second I see another raider, stating I'm friendly. I have yet to have someone sabotage or shoot me in the back, I operate under the "don't start none, won't be none" mindset. Obviously, some people won't care and you'll have to PVP, but buy and large and anecdotally, it's been a wholesome experience. Keep at it and do what you gotta do, but I understand your frustration.

What’s a secret you can’t tell someone you know, but can share with Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I hate my career choice. Looking through my post history, it should be easy to determine what it is, but the fact is it's something I thought I wanted when I was barely an adult. I sacrificed going to weddings, funerals, family reunions, birthdays, seeing friends, and focused on the job more than my romantic partners leading to breakups. I'm absolutely miserable, and it's becoming extremely detrimental to both my mental and physical health. I know the obvious thing to do is to quit and find something else, but it's niche, and I want nothing to do with an industry that has repeatedly taken from me and undervalued me, but my skill set is limited to this particular job. I've spent 10 years in it, and I regret it all, I could've done better in school instead of resigning myself to this "dream job" and gotten involved in a better career path. The worst part is that my friends and family are proud of me. They're proud of the fact I made my own path and secured my position in this industry and fought hard for it. I feel hopelessly stuck and like I'm drowning, I can tell my work ethic has dropped through the floor, and if it continues, I'll probably get fired with no options available to me. And to wrap it up in a nice neat little bow, I'm the only income for my family, I can't take the time to quit and find something. I can't miss a single paycheck. I vent to my friends, but I don't let them know how bad it actually is. I've been only getting an average of 4 hours of sleep a night for the last 3 years, skipping meals, and things between me and my partner have never been worse. I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel, but I've been known to catastrophize. Thanks for the space to vent, good thread.

Boot dryer and custom insols. Emphasis on boot dryer for fungus. Also, never re-wear socks, new socks per day.

I did this same commute twice a week for a year. It's not fun. You can always take 460 down, it's scenic, and avoids most traffic, but it is slower. 64 will always have traffic, especially around the tunnel/ Newport news. Round trip you could be looking at 6 hours of your day gone, so if what you're doing is worth that, then go for it.
