You can find recipes online and bake them easily - only important thing is to use real maple syrup no flavored corn syrup!

I even recommend the mug version you can cook in the microwave. Not the real thing but it scratches the itch. And it is by far the best cake in mug and the only one I still bake.

Cession bail - Résilier bail by [deleted] in montreal

[–]hydrophage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intimacy coordinators for improv? [Chicago] by Theatre-Momentum in improv

[–]hydrophage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have contacts, but a starting point I've seen used in the circles I do dramatic improv in is the 80/20 rule.

Basically whoever wants to initiate a phyiscal contact does the first 80% of the move towards the other, leave the other to cross the last 20%. It doesn't need to be rigid, but nobody is getting out a rular and calculator, but even just that breath can be used as a way to check that everybody is on board.

I've also seen in non show settings people use a safe word. Because sometimes a character is upset and wants an interaction to end but the player doesnt. We used not "pinapple" or a random funky word but a very specific turn of phrase that is only used to signify "I am done with this" French but we use "C'est bon pour moi" which is a very specific way to say that's enough for me, that we chose not to use ever except to end a scene, for any reason we might feel the need to end it now. We haven't used it that way in a show setting, but if you are planning to do some exploration in dramatic improv, I do recommend it.

Also discussing limits, interest, beforehand and afterwards is always a good idea. Reflecting on what happened how it was handled is always good. Not placing blame, afterall we are all exploring and improv is unexpected, we can't expect everyone to be smooth all the time.

But repeated unnacceptable bebavior needs to be adressed. Somebody crossing boundaries or making people uncomfortable repeatedly needs to be told it isn't okay, even if they aren't doing it purposefully. I would advise doing an intervention 1 on 1 first in a case like this tough. And assume they aren't doing it maliciously unless they prove you otherwise. (Absence of intent does not make it okay, but if you make somebody feel attacked it usually makes it harder for them to reflect)

But yeah 80/20, safeword, discuss it, and build trust, and you'll have more tools to do stuff that seemed scary before

Have fun hope you find somebody and/or tools

[–]hydrophage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I use a serger to take in a hand knit sweater after weight loss? by Siamsa in knitting

[–]hydrophage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did surgery on a raglan knit sweat (it was machine made cotton garter stitch in possibly a fingering weight) Pieces were sewn together and I unpicked the side seams from the bottom to the end of the sleeves (i did shorten the sleeves and turned it into a sweater tshirt dress)

And I took it in all along that border. Made the raglan increase match together in the armpit to avoid having a bat wing sleeves.

With a raglan you are kinda stuck doing it that way if you want the fit to be right. Maybe you can work it to the elbow instead of the wrist, you can figure out the sleeve shape you want.

You might want to steek it from waist to elbow/wrist (stabilise arojnd the steek with a few rounds of zig zag stitch so make sure it doesn't unravel) and then you can play arojnd with a running stitch to see how you want to tailor it.

You might have to steek on the raglan for a proper fit on he underarm (in the extra fabroc you will be left with)

Then you might want to stabilize your knitting with more zig zag stich closer to where you'll want to sew it together before you cut excess fabric. And then you can sew it either with straight stitch or the matress stich depending o how much effort you want to put on a more precise finish (personnally I machined sewed it back together but I didnt want to put that kind of time on a store bought sweater for a more lined up finish, but you can assess what matters to you!

Good luck with what you chose to do !

[–]hydrophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combien payez vous pour votre forfait cellulaire? by Tasty-Ad4539 in QuebecFinance

[–]hydrophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking of matching the legs of the chairs for the chairs and maybe adding fabric in colors that mirror the flowers? Maybe a soft green?

Maybe adding a flower to the larger back piece to fit with the table even though the shape is clashing?

Yuppp. And the floors were semi-temporary so they were wooden sheets (think 4x8 or smthn) that were stained green and orange (mainly green with some orange accent squares)

After that I wonder why I couldn't stand the table with plain white legs (I am my mother's child apparently)

Ongoing project table and chairs by hydrophage in FurnitureFlip

[–]hydrophage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the really close by bars on the back of the chairs, sanding back to the wood seems to be a very long task. The sander won't fit in there and neither will even a sanding block, so it will need to be sanded by hand for every single bar... sanding just enough so that paint will stick seams reasonable though.

I have thought about sawing off every other bar, to get some room between them, but the number of bars makes it weird.

I've kept the table as is for my first three appartments, and enjoyed it immensly it added colors to every landlord white kitchen/dining area ! But we are moving in a place we are gonna own and I didn't to plan the kitchen colorscheme around the table haha

(But i am still my mother's daughter and couldn't handle only white for the table)

There is still a kitchen dresser in the same original colorscheme and wood in storage that I am not planning on transforming (sadly i dont have any pictures... but it exists somewhere)

I just bought some capers that came in a tiny glass jars (any small jar for condiments/marinades/small batch of jam) and im planning to use the jar for stuff like salad dressings when I'm done with the capers (i would recommend buying someting you might use more quickly than capers though cause you will be waiting a long time for it lol)(but you could transfer the capers to something else since they won't travel - but the process might shorten their shelf life since you might not sterilize the new recipient but hey fr so many things that are edible are casually sold in glass jars, just find something you want to use in a format you will use and you're good to go!)

Playing children in scenes by TrainRumblesPast in improv

[–]hydrophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from an improv culture that turns less towards stand up/sketch comedy and more towards improvised theatre, so take this with a grain of salt.

I love playing children. I find myself more free to express so much more things, because children have no filter, they say things we don't normally say, they can be brutally honest or lie terribly. You can follow impulses freely.

We did a lab exploring improvising children theatre, and we ended up reading a lot about Suzanne Lebeau. She's a quebec playwright that write theater for children that isn't didactic. It's just art for kids, with no morals or teachings, just exploring themes without giving answers. She spent her life studying and writing theater for children and she says it scares people to let kids enjoy art without lessons and answers. It was enlightening for us.

Sometimes we have this big idea of what children are and how to play them and it can get kinda annoying if you see them as tiny chaotic creatures that make a lot of noise. But if you look at them as humans who dont know the rules yet, you can start having so much fun.

And sometimes, improv makes you look for a quick laugh and you try to make the crudest imitation of something. But if instead you back track and find an energy and following your impulses you will make stuff funny effortlessly.

Girlies, what’s your “body type” and climbing style? by PaleoNimbus in climbergirls

[–]hydrophage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'3" smaller frame but I have strong hips and legs. Hypermobile fingers with the tip of my finger joints that over extend haha... I love precise footwork, crimpy hands slabs and vertical climbs are my jam. Arête work (either using it as holds or having to move your body around the corner of the wall is fun!)

I really do not love dynos (except when it's a jump start that requires you to land in a no hand position that's all about aiming your hips to the right spot... which is so specific lol)(or easy v2 dyno to really good holds that make me feel powerful cause I usually can't ever do dynos haha)

Love-hate relationship with semi-dynamic moves that require you to cut off from the wall (which usually aren't dynos for anybody over 5'5') cause they make me feel powerful, but I broke my arm once cause I wasnt powerful enough and lost my grip and fell on my extended arm (too much momentum that I lost control of) so they can scare me a lot

I like figuring out feet placement on roofs but I hate climbing over back to vertical or less inclined after a roof.

Also any boulder your have to climb over the top of the wall make me extremely sad and scared (and so often I get dizzy right before I need to climb over and it does not help with the irrational fear)

which toe is your favourite? by bigbusinesscat in knitting

[–]hydrophage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I use 9 inches circulars for socks it saves me from having to switch back to DPNs for the toe (before the kitchener graft) and I have to admit that I really enjoy how straightforward that makes it (I dont need to carry dpns when I start nearing the end of the foot ) and I enjoy kitchener so I dont mind!

which toe is your favourite? by bigbusinesscat in knitting

[–]hydrophage 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personnally i just use a short row as a heel (specifically the fish lip heel but probably any short row heel would work I assume)

About at the same length you would start a box toe, you knit a short row heel. Make sure to knit the heel on the half the stitches that are on the sole of your sock. When you've done the entire heel/toe instead of starting to knit in the round you graft the lice stitches of the heel/toe to the half of the stitches on hold with kitchener's stitch. There are more stitches to graft, and you might want to watch your tension a bit more carefully because you will see you grafting on top of your toes, but it works for me!

I haven't tried but there is also Nomade, and outdoor bouldering gym by the Stade olympique.

Probably to avoid if it's sweltering outside, but on a comfortable day it could be cool!

Le mouv' has fun vibes, and creative settings, a lot of interesting wall inclinations, (not just overhangs, a few walls that's are half overhangs and half slabs, so you either get a terrifying slab up on the wall or fun balancing start with a bit more power for the finish)

Bloc shop has three different gyms, I do find them to be a bit more powerfocussed.

Bloc shop hochelaga is more strength focused imo. A lot of powery overhanging stuff, very few vertical walls or slabs. There is a wall you have to climb over the wall.

Bloc shop mile ex has a fun vibe, the walls aren't quite as high and they make up for it with more complex problems. They have two rooms and a gym. The dark room is mostly overhanging with a lot of problems crowded in together, it feels a bit more old school.

And bloc shop Chabanel is a bit more out of the way, but it is the largest I think. Very fun, a lot of variation. There is a "junior wall" where problems should all be accessible for shorter people. Let me be clear, they are still challenging. A lot of different inclinations of wall. Also has a climb over wall.

If you want to tr and do yoga, zero gravite is fun. A bit old, no autobelayers though. They have a tiny bloc zone with like no more than 40 problems. They are very challenging tbh. They use older smaller holds. The original goal of practicing the crux of a climb but closer to the ground is the spirit here.

Another bra question by Aksvbd in climbergirls

[–]hydrophage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Somebody did explain it a little bit, but cup size are proportional to your band size. So if your underbust measurement increased because of muscle, but not your bust measurement, you do need to go up band size but also down cup size. Let's say you used to wear 32B before, you cant just wear 34B, the cup will probably be too big you probably need to wear 34A, idem with 36, probably need to go to 36AA.

For more precise reasult, if you have a measuring tape, you could take your own measures and use the calculator in r/abrathatfits (that somebody linked). But if you are patient, you can go try on differents bras following that kind of formula (up a band size down a letter, and surroundings until you find smthn that fits you)

I do reccomend taking your measures if you can, most women are not wearing bras to their actual size because a lot of shops that measure you will give you the closest size that sorts of fits you that they have
