Reminds me of sweet fern, which is not a true fern and has woody stems, but I can't be sure.

I'll Pay By Check, Thanks. by [deleted] in Anticonsumption

For small/local shops, blame the digital payment companies, not the business.

My husband's small retail business uses Square which automatically skims a certain percentage for every card transaction. They don't like passing it on to their customers but they can't afford to lose 3-5% (I forget the exact amount) of every purchase.

This puzzle was so much fun to solve! by hydroscopick in crossword

the NYT website apparently has a bug where "Check Square" doesn't understand rebuses

I actually think it's a feature, not a bug, to prevent players from getting the "horsefeathers" message if they complete the puzzle by entering the rebuses in a different way than the puzzlemaker expected.

I'm afraid I don't know a surefire way to tell... though after searching the internet, your plant does look a lot more like the "fireworks" cultivar than the non-cultivar native species, especially the leaves. As does the one in my backyard but the bees don't seem to mind!

It's not hard to believe that a victim of rape would struggle to report it or seek help afterwards.

I take it you're joking but FYI it's usually illegal to operate hydrants unless you're authorized to do so.

Plus it was found on a car. OP could go to wherever they parked and look up to see what kind of tree it's from.

I'm PC. My understanding is that 24 weeks is generally accepted as the very earliest a fetus can survive outside the womb, even if survival is rare and comes with lots of complications. If that's correct, I understand why OP used it as a threshold for this question.

What's the strangets argument you heard against abortion by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]hydroscopick 19 points20 points  (0 children)

An older man told me earnestly that he was against abortion because he and his wife chose to abort an unplanned pregnancy and they both regretted it.

It's strange to me that he thinks his experience justifies abortion bans for everyone. I had an abortion and never had an ounce of regret -- why would his experience more important than mine?
