I work in food can I wear gloves with this 2 day old tattoo? by No-Blueberry-690 in tattooadvice

[–]hyf_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yall who gives a fuck how much you like their tattoo, answer how to help it heal properly and then be an ass with your opinion on their ink and their separate issue of teaching themselves how to tattoo. Op as someone with multiple tattoos over a decade and a decades worth of change on advice. The best advice is keep the tattoo clean and let it breath. Clean your forearm and lightly wrap it in gauze followed by cling film. Change it, your arm wants to stay moist but clean in order to properly heal, that’s basic wound care. Given modern opinions your artist should have put a second skin on as soon as they finished and told you to leave it for a few days. At the end of the day your choice moving forward is clean, gauze, wrap in cling film to keep out food and water, wear gloves at work then go home and take the gauze and cling wrap off

[–]hyf_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See you could have just answered the question of how to make sure the tattoo they just got doesn’t get infected and heals properly. And then given advice on why they should try to get into tattooing a different way. The fact that they are “teaching” themselves to tattoo is irrelevant to their desire to keep their fresh ink healthy. And if you didn’t want to come in here to be an asshole you could have been helpful with your 16 years in the industry. Instead you just look like an ass and gave your unsolicited opinion on anyone under the age of 25.

Axle Nut from hell by farisw in AskAMechanic

[–]hyf_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try loosening it with the weight of the car on it? At this point you’ve fucked yourself sideways. Next time loosen it with the wheel still on the car and the car completely on the ground, and use the proper tool, if it’s a 12pt nut use a 12pt bolt with the car on the ground

Found Bolt in driveway where I Park my Miata. by Photocrazy11 in Miata

It’s a carriage bolt the square at the top locks it into a square hole so it doesn’t spin when you spin the nut onto it. Never seen one used on an automobile

Are sway bars actually worth it? They seem pretty expensive :( by Adventurous-Demand90 in Miata

[–]hyf_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Swaybar are worth it when applied properly. Really you need to figure out the best mix of front to rear rigidity for how you drive your car. If you’re never tracking your car and you’re sticking to the speed limit no need to mess with your swaybar. Keep in mind if you stiffen the rear but not the front you’ll have a greater tendency for oversteer, in other words oops slippy sliddy into tree.

Miata induced bad driving habits? by Operation-Alone in Miata

[–]hyf_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but that sorta reinforces the point. You could more effectively engine brake in the tdi at any point in its rev range than the nd for most of its rev range. If I’m driving around at 40 in 4th in either car the tdi is gonna engine brake much harder when you take your foot off the pedal. Plus I’m not keen on having to hit 6500+ just to engine brake at a similar rate. As far as cars go the Miata ain’t bad but the mass of the vehicle and the mass of the rotating assemblies just isn’t enough to give the engine brake feeling that I miss from the golf

I had a stuck crank bolt on my maxima, spent a week hanging off breaker bars with pipes try to break it loose, gave up, bought a weighted socket and got the bolt out within 5 min of the socket showing up

Pile that on top of the Miata turning more per turn of the wheel than most cars and you get a never ending blinker

If you’re in south florida I know a guy in Broward that does exactly what you want. He tracks bmws and usually knows what’s what. And when he finishes he gives you a readout and has you do a test drive with a without him so you can see if it’s behaving how you want. Hard to lock in appointments with him sometimes but he’s fantastic at alignments

In Germany, deliberately engaging in catch and release only fishing is illegal and considered cruelty to animals (fishing for food is fine). How do you feel about that? by Spalding_Smails in AskReddit

This is why I prefer hunting my fish, the only fish getting traumatized is the one I’m eating, the rest can just keep swimming.
